UNT pulled out of exhibition because of the weather, such a bummer cause i wanted to see some of the bands in this area, but I guess we cant win them all. i hope everyone stays safe and all, I know the roads will be somewhat whack tomorrow. -

I would argue the directors dont really know what goes on the band program itsself. They could instill these policies and leave the student leaders to do carry out the rules. The students are at fault, specifically upperclassmen and leadership team cause they are responsible for their own actions. I know directors do check these forums in the event their kids are on here (I know mine were my senior year), so chances are theyâll come across this forum. -

my friend in college (who went to lt) went to their area competition after our morning game. i know heâll likely be upset on monday when i see him, but i do feel for the band. -

in my humble opinion, its different to cheer because your school got in and cause of you liking the performance. however, they both can be easily be misinterpreted. i do think cheering when you clearly represent another school is rude, aka the mckinney north parents. that stuff can easily ruin a bandâs reputation and change the overall view of the band itsself. -

a lot of bands do this. its geniunely so rude to do this and i dont know why people do not see this as being disrespectful. i had talked to some girl at my hs about it and she said: âwell we won area so of course weâre going to cheer.â thereâs a time and place for everything, and especially not after finding out you wont be returning to state to defend your finals placement. i feel for the kids at lebanon trail, some of the sweetest people ive talked to, and i hope theyâre okay. -

theyâll probably leave and go back to their hometowns, i know forney did at bedford last year because of our 4:30 am calltime to get unis. -

i honestly feel like they could have kept some of the area J bands here but oh well (also why isnt 5a area b balanced) -

i will say it was done for balancing purposes cause they know when certain areas are getting ridiculously hard. area c back then was a nightmare, but overall its somewhat easier now imo. -

^ i found the first comment kind of rude in my opinion (not yours the first personâs). ultimately, the bands are very friendly with each other, and some of the kids at forney come from the middle schools that zone to north. comparing two very different competitions is crazy, especially considering how different the scoring is. i have to clarify: im not downplaying northâs achievements this season because this may be one of their best seasons yet, just wish the first comment was worded better imo. -

the north side south side rivalry at forney is absolutely insane enough as is, but ultimately Forneyâs results came down to a harder competition. theyâre working on cleaning along w learning part 4 for the UIL segment of the season. -

finally saw Forney yesterday at the community performance, and WOW! part 4 is shaping up wonderfully, apparently they had just finished putting it on the field before the performance. I donât want to give too much away with the closer, but everything overall works PHENOMENALLY! -

The main reason why is Highland Park use to dominate the 5A competition a few years ago, especially this area competition. They finished 5th in the 2021 5A State Marching Contest; however, they havenât seen as much success in the recent years. -
Yeah thatâs what I was assuming it was; however knowing how the band works, I know the funds would have been allocated towards travel. I really do not know what the ultimate reason could have been, but likely travel maybe had a factor. I hate assuming because I donât want the wrong information getting out, especially a program that I am affiliated with.

Forney had a chance at making finals, no doubt about that. I donât know what this person is referring to about misunderstanding because when I had talked to the directors months prior they were confident in TMC and Bedford. I donât know what shifted, but again I would like current members to sort of give a sense of reason because I donât like assuming.

clarinetistkai05 replied to LeanderMomma's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
I know theyâll be okay, it stung for a lot of them that they missed finals when I went to talk to them. Second year in a row with the same placement, I would be mad too (I was mad last year somewhat). Although, they know Iâm proud and Iâm rooting for them. As long as the crowd loved them, then Iâm happy with how they did (plus itâs a hard contest, so naturally some really talented bands will miss finals).
