unt does boa bedford & we’re doing don hanna that same day… so not ready for the 2x performance that day 😭 (forney never had two performances the same day, but we had hoco parade collide w area my junior year so like technically)

I forgot some things, so I’ll attach them here: - what i did my first performance that i recommend to all freshman is imagine nobody is there and you are rehearsing (to a degree). it may sound contradictory to what I said about performing your best, but the directors do occasionally throw in a “perform at rehearsal how you would at competition” mindset, so hence why this worked for me. - think, say, and write the things you want to happen on the field (yes i stole this from my hs director). the more you say positive stuff in your head, the less nervous you will be for runs. - do not beat yourself up for any mistakes you may make at any point in the season. this sort of ties in with the previous point, but think of every mistake as a learning opportunity. continue to get better and never tell yourself you cannot do something.

my advice (I’m a recent hs graduate and now in college band): 1. try not to focus on the audience while you perform. the performance itself goes by fast, so all you can really do is clear your head and lock in. 2. do breathing exercises before you go on field. i occasionally have to tell myself to breathe before performing, so taking deep breaths will help you clear your head before performing. 3. have fun! band comps are about making memories in my opinion, and you will quickly realize that comp days are so much fun! overall, it’s okay to be nervous. i remember being nervous for my first competition, but just know it’ll all be okay. good luck, have fun, and give it your all (but not more than you have)!

I don’t have a video, but Forney’s show is on fire right now! The music is actually so good and everything else is also incredible. I miss my friends a whole bunch (don’t tell them I said that), but I know they’re loving this show so far!

still so weird seeing forney listed as 6a 😭 (im used to the almost 10 years of seeing / hearing 5a) but I hope they do good at this comp! i have no way of seeing this contest (home football game that day), but i expect great things from this season overall. 🫶

Marcus is truthfully incredible, I saw their show last year at Super Regionals and their ballad had me tearing up. I am so blown away by them everytime I see them 😭

I’m not so sure, since I’ve graduated and now I’m at college. I’m cheering for these kids though, they are / will forever be a huge part of my life.

I kept it hidden for a while, with only my directors knowing what school I would be at, but I am hoping I’ll encounter him maybe. I don’t really socialize with people from other sections unless we’re doing drill at rehearsal. I am having a blast too, the GB culture is incredible!

I thought the numbers were the same as last year, but maybe I’m wrong. Idk, I did a top 5 just in case 😭

I’m so excited to be here performing w the UNT Green Brigade! I am so excited for you guys to see the show, whether you are watching it on Box5 or in person. I personally am in love w the music and what we have learned so far, GMG! 💚🦅

In my humble opinion, here’s my top 4 / 5 predictions (depending on area numbers, but I’m not knowledgeable in that department): 1. Wakeland 2. Lone Star 3. Argyle 4. Lebanon Trail 5 (if they send 5). McKinney North

I’d say a few days before last year’s, but I don’t remember when they got released. Maybe later this month or something? IDK.

Finally someone said it, I’m not a fan of most asian based marching shows in Texas because it comes off extremely offensive if done wrong. I’m a fan of the concept of the show, but not having anything related to China in the music or anything just sets off the alarm bells. I hope we’re proven wrong and the show turns out amazing, but I am worried as of right now.

I WAS RIGHT! I had so so much fun, and I got to enjoy the shows, along with see my friends who were performing! The Troopers & Mandies were definitely my favorites to see, but Blue Stars hold a special place in my heart. Overall, I enjoyed my experience, and I can’t wait to do it again sometime!

IM SO EXCITED FOR TMRW! I am going to DCI McKinney and I get to see Blue Stars, Troopers, Mandies, and SCV!!!! I will definitely be a hundred dollars poorer but it’s okayyy 😭

I literally have ranted to anyone and everyone about the Troopers, but I love their show so so much, even if it isn’t the best cleanliness wise. I hope they pull through and I know finals is on the horizon for them! (top 12 for sure as you said)

Hoping in my heart Bloo wins! My favorites so far this season besides Boston & Bloo have been Troopers and Mandies . I can’t wait for DCI McKinney because I get to see them BOTH!!!

I don’t want to call Bloo winning rn because everything seems to be going to perfect for everything to stay the way it is. Bloo at 88 though rn is INSANE! (I love you Troopers please pull through)

i can’t wait to see dci live for the first time! this is the first full season im following, and ill be at dci mckinney this year! im super excited and i cannot wait to see all the shows!!! :)))

I feel like HP’s style of shows is more fit for 5A imo, unless there’s a director change then I see them winning this area.
