  1. With Texas having the 8 hour rule, I can guarantee you that the good bands in Texas are good because the directors do a much better job at time management in practice than places without the rule and within Texas that's what sets some of the schools apart from each other.
  2. I'm a little late to this party, but I just saw the thread. I think one of the issues with judging area is that all 3 music judge puts a score for has to put a score for Ensemble, Wind, Brass, Percussion and Content, all on one first time watch of a show. Then both visual judges have to score individual, ensemble and content. To me, that is an impossible task to get 100% right.
  3. theyxe cancelled finals so the top 5 prelims bands are headed to state
  4. Our bands earliest call time this year was 3:45 am, the morning after a football game. We usually do an hour visual rehearsal on the morning of a competition at the school before eating, dressing and inspection. This was for a 9:30 am performance time at a stadium about 30 minutes away. The kids rocked it though. Luckily our state performance time is late morning we drive up Sunday night and stay not too far away but we'll still get a practice in that morning somewhere.
  5. My question has been answered. Here's the schedule with placeholders for area C. https://www.uiltexas.org/files/music/6A_Prelims_2024.pdf
  6. I would think so but it definitely messes up the pre draw order for state so I'm not sure what they handle that.
  7. I'm guessing the final schedule won't be posted until Area C competes and there's not way to figure it out using the draw order schedule?
  8. It goes to whoever has more head to head wins. So 3 judges had Katy ahead of Ranch so Katy was in 10th
  9. The rain is coming down pretty good right now too
  10. Everyone got to perform in prelims with no delays
  11. So far all the showers have been short. Klein Oak started out with some moderate rain and by the end the sun was out. I only saw Conroe perform without electronics and they probably had the worst rain so far. I missed a few around lunch time but it’s been a good day for all so far.
  12. I'm not sure how this would happen. At our our school the directors are all in our students grades. They start looking at all 300 of the students grades weeks before the end of a grading period and are on them daily to get their grades up to passing. Is it possible that someone had a grade change after the fact that made them somehow ineligible?
  13. The information is here, https://uilregion21.org/uploads/cms/nav-24-670fe784b80fe.pdf. I'm guessing each half will be ordered by the finals draw order maybe...
  14. The prelims schedule has been posted. https://img1.wsimg.com/blobby/go/59e8cd43-c3cb-442a-913b-e742220c84a5/downloads/869f9f62-b6ee-4494-aa40-a69e47fdb883/Prelims Schedule - 2024 UIL Area F.pdf?ver=1729696439074
  15. Looks like Willis got a 2 as well but the others got 1's. So by my count we're right at 25 which means 10 in finals and 5 will make it to state still. Much closer than I expected.
