I'm a little late to this party, but I just saw the thread. I think one of the issues with judging area is that all 3 music judge puts a score for has to put a score for Ensemble, Wind, Brass, Percussion and Content, all on one first time watch of a show. Then both visual judges have to score individual, ensemble and content. To me, that is an impossible task to get 100% right.

Our bands earliest call time this year was 3:45 am, the morning after a football game. We usually do an hour visual rehearsal on the morning of a competition at the school before eating, dressing and inspection. This was for a 9:30 am performance time at a stadium about 30 minutes away. The kids rocked it though. Luckily our state performance time is late morning we drive up Sunday night and stay not too far away but we'll still get a practice in that morning somewhere.

It goes to whoever has more head to head wins. So 3 judges had Katy ahead of Ranch so Katy was in 10th -

So far all the showers have been short. Klein Oak started out with some moderate rain and by the end the sun was out. I only saw Conroe perform without electronics and they probably had the worst rain so far. I missed a few around lunch time but it’s been a good day for all so far.- 79 replies

I'm not sure how this would happen. At our our school the directors are all in our students grades. They start looking at all 300 of the students grades weeks before the end of a grading period and are on them daily to get their grades up to passing. Is it possible that someone had a grade change after the fact that made them somehow ineligible? -

Looks like Willis got a 2 as well but the others got 1's. So by my count we're right at 25 which means 10 in finals and 5 will make it to state still. Much closer than I expected.- 79 replies

They don't. I believe after making a 1 at region they go straight to the State competition. Even though they're not there, their numbers still count towards how many non military bands go to state.- 79 replies

More than likely 5 with a minimal chance of 6 and probably a smaller chance of 4- 79 replies

I also know that they were scheduled to go on at 7:30 am. Coming from north Houston, they'd probably have to have a call time of like 3 am if not earlier to make that. Our band had a 3:45 am call time this past weekend and we performed later than 7:30 and the stadium was closer too. I do feel sorry for Klein Cain having to do this so early too.

2024 BOA Shenandoah (Sept. 28)

I’m wondering how people are watching the contest that are commenting. It’d be interesting to know when making predictions if you’re in person or watching online. Don’t get me wrong, all of the bands have been great, but some of the bands people are predicting highly had some glaring issues that I’m wondering how that’s coming across online because in person I didn’t see them nearly as high -
I know with our band program after someone made a DCI group, they've posted on our band Facebook page asking for donations. I would maybe get with your band director and see if you could do something like this or if they have any other ideas.

Football 🏈 Halftime Shows
homerchap replied to JFNDOWBFAN's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Klein Oak has most of part 1 & 2 somewhat completed. There's some blank spaces in the show that'll be added later by different "instruments". Overall they seem to have a pretty solid first game performance.
