  1. Marcus' show should come with a seizure warning! This was my first time seeing it, and it's one of my favorites this year.
  2. Welcome to FANS of America's San Antonio Super Regional! We're super excited to listen to you chat, walk in and out, loudly tell people they're in your seat, all with bands playing and marching in the background! That's right, everyone's here to see and hear you! Now that that's of my chest... Woodlands guard is always so much fun to watch. What a crazy finals.
  3. That was exactly my thought. I like what they are doing a lot.
  4. I think easier is maybe not the right term. I think there are fewer variables outside of your control (wind, lights, how a dropped weapon bounces, etc) with dance vs guard. To add to that my wife (a ballerina into her 20s, high school dance team, dance instructor, and color guard mom/board member) said she absolutely agreed that dance as a whole is not easier. However, she felt the routine Vandy was using could be picked up fairly easily by the Woodlands guard, but the Vandy dance team would have a rough time picking up the Woodland's guard performance. That's pretty much the best two bands at their particular craft so it may well not be the same between Vandy and Vista for example. One interesting note, my daughter regularly interacts with the Vandy dance team members and they always want to play with her weapons and have stated that they would like the opportunity to use weapons. Again, not trying to knock anyone or their performance. I literally turned to my wife and the Vandy parents next to us after the Woodlands was announced and told them Vandy was going to win with a record new high score. They are amazing and deserved their win.
  5. I would love that! I posted on another thread, but it always seems like the shows I find the most fun/entertaining get punished by the judges. Think ROUS (Rodents of unusual Size) from last year and CTJ from this year. Both are super fun and obvious audience favorites that the judges didn't seem to think were as good as some of the less university style shows.
  6. I agree, it's not my favorite. If the world was run by me we'd have a requirement for two types of equipment used by guard/dance team or whatever you want to call it, but luckily for us all I'm not in charge of the world! Nothing against Vandy, they were amazing last night and I loved their show. They deserved their 97.60. I think my favorite was Reagan, they have a good mix of talented dance team and a strong guard that uses flags, rifles, sabers, etc.
  7. Woodlands guard is so incredible. I loved them on Tuesday night and I think they were better tonight. So many great shows tonight performed by amazing bands.
  8. I love when the snare is left alone then picked back up by the rest of the core.
  9. I'm almost glad this is the last performance. I don't think my heart can take too many more performances!
  10. I think you forgot an LISD band. Vandy, Vista, Rouse, Cedar Park, and Leander. By my country that's 5, but I'm old and use old math
  11. CTJ's Flamingo is even better in person. I love it so much. On a side note, any Final Fantasy nerds out there think it looked like they were riding pink chocobos?
  12. Does it make me a bad person that it irritates me how good Vandy is? Their music is so technical and they pull it off so well. The precision in their drill always amazes me too.
  13. Anyone know what's up with Vandegrift? Schedule says they are next, but it's going to a break.
