  1. That is always a factor that can give some bands the advantage and others not so much!
  2. Would love to see mcCallum in finals!
  3. Out of this block, who would you place in finals?
  4. Fully agree with this right here!
  5. Ok, so I just received word that bridgeland was going to cypress showcase, genuinely wondering why they didn’t chose Conroe over this but nonetheless, here are my predictions: 1. Bridgeland(all captions) 2. jersey village 3. Langham Creek 4. Cypress Park 5. Dulles
  6. Hutto did a FANTASTIC job, absolutely loved that ensemble sound! Could I possibly be an assistant at that band hall and just listen to that sound??
  7. This is all absolutely amazing! Solid performances from absolutely everyone we’ve seen so far!!
  8. Woods has gotten new uniforms, bridgeland is looking unexpectedly clean.
  9. I might just be able to make this competition, Was planning on going to Conroe and forgot it was next week instead of this! A friend will be at Austin so this should be a very fun Saturday! Prelims should be really exciting between Lake Ridge, and cville. This is gonna be awesome!
  10. First place- Jersey Village 2nd. Langham creek 3rd. Cy-Lakes
  11. With that being said who else do you think is a possible dark horse?
  12. Honestly, I don’t doubt that, If I heard in 10th place advancing to area finals, “the cypress lakes high school band”. I wouldn’t be too shocked but the audience reaction would be amazing.
  13. Does anyone think there are some dark horse bands that could maybe pull and upset this year at area, by dark hose bands I mean the bands that are very close to finals 11-15, that could maybe pull one of our finalists from last year out?
  14. Also, I think there are some bands in area i that could shock with some area finals performances, langham creek who once was a band that dominated Texas could make an appearance, Cypress Park High school has absolutely KILLER percussion, cy-ranch is a program that 2 years before the pandemic was doing pretty good, and then the pandemic hit, and they are one of those few dark horse bands that’s been kind’ve sitting on the cusp of finals, and I’m just waiting for them to have their break.
  15. Cypress Falls High school, Harvey impacted them and then Covid did the same thing, but they’ve been going to many BOA’s and it seems like they are out on a hunt for what they used to get back in 2014 when they would dominate regionals, even made BOA San Antonio finals in 2016, they’re hungry it seems. They’ll be back to where they were and hopefully get better.
  16. The 2 groups I have my eye on are cy-woods and bridgeland, a lot of the times those 2 battle it out.
  17. To be honest, I really don’t know, I’ve not really heard of these bands nor seen them.
  18. Very excited to see who wins this, currently rooting for lake ridge!
  19. I would assume to make it easier for cy-creek, Jersey village, cy ridge, the bands that aren’t too close to the berry center, although this will be a long ride for Langham creek, and cy-parks. So I’m guessing they’re trying to make it easier for other bands to travel given that they’ve had to travel a long way these past few years. Another reason could be that this marching contest isn’t on the same scale it used to be, I don’t want to say this contest is dying but it pretty much is. There used to be plenty of bands here, and because there were a good amount, they would have finals performances, but now this is only a prelims event because they simply don’t have enough bands. For example, Back in 2019/2018 You had Bridgeland, Cy-Woods, Cy-Fair, Cy-Ranch, Cinco ranch, Klein oak, Katy, Seven lakes, oak ridge, and plenty more bands. Now the contest is much smaller in size overall, and just overall has less of the Houston area “Monsters”, so I would assume they didn’t feel the need to use the berry center because pridgeon can support that amount of bands without issue/worry.
  20. I’ve been rooting for falls, they’ve lost an amazing director and we’re heavily impacted by Harvey, so I feel like this year is their year.
  21. I also feel it’s important that these programs know we recognize the hard work they are putting in, and that we aren’t ignoring them just because they’re smaller, we aren’t ignoring them at all. We know they exist and we know they’re there.
  22. I do strongly agree that there is a lack of South Texas band discussion, I feel as if it has always been this way, and as someone else said they haven’t reached that level of “relevancy” but as someone who typically discusses more about the bigger 6A Bands like Hebron, Vandegrift, Woodlands, Bridgeland, Seven lakes, Reagan, and CTJ. I’m going to make an effort to start looking at these smaller programs, and definitely checking out these areas.
  23. Lake ridge had pretty decent performances at their games.
  24. I’ve seen schools do lots of BOA and still go to UIL because they frankly don’t really have a choice. It is required in most districts.
