Interesting results nonetheless. I was really rooting for Timberview to beat Summit but they at least did it in prelims. It really looks like Legacy is taking a big step back this year falling all the way down to 10th. Arlington and SGP did better than I expected and Midlothian winning in prelims caught me off guard too. Crazy results all over at not just this contest, but contests all around. It'll be interesting to see where these bands stand at come area.

UIL 6A Area B 2024

Well I was impressed with Martin as I saw today at USBands Saginaw. They actually won in prelims beating bands like Fossil Ridge and Birdville. With what I saw with my own eyes, I think Martin's back this year. As for Grand Prairie, I like the sound volume for their size, but their music isn't exactly clean yet (Sam Houston was cleaner last week imo). But they still have like 2-3 weeks until UIL where they can fix some of their issues. -

I just now realized, I forgot Castleberry. But I do actually think they'll make finals over Godley. Had a great season last year and even made a state run. -

So I really just wanted to show some recognition to a band that no one really talks about, the Sam Houston band. Ive noticed that they are so much more improved musically and visually compared to last year. Even though they don't have much of their show on the field as of this point, they are really showing off, and they may even be looking at a 1st division at UIL and advance to Area for the first time since 2016. Performance starts at 1:58:08 -

This will definitely be an interesting contest this year. I see that a lot of newbies turned up this year to shake some things up here. Anyways, here's my top 10: 1. V.R. Eaton 2. North Crowley 3. Canton 4. China Spring 5. Creekview 6. Arlington Heights 7. Alvarado 8. Gatesville 9. Heritage 10. Godley -

Yes, that is very true. Honestly, it would've just been better to keep 2 areas with 6 bands advancing rather than 3 areas with only 4 advancing. Area B and J are without a doubt the hardest areas in the state now. But things get even more serious in Area J as it's basically a winner-take-all deal with the LISD trio being locks. Area C is definitely getting the good end of the stick here imo. I'm not saying all the bands here are trash, but when you take a look at Area B and J, there's just overall more depth there than Area C. The SMC is intended to represent the best of the best in the state but I don't really think it's working because the best of the best is sometimes not even advancing, meanwhile you have band in West/South TX (no disrespect intented) have it easy. I just kind of wished that the UIL would evaluate this more... -
Just one thing to note: James Martin HS is doing another contest this day, USBands Saginaw. I remembered them doing this last year when they did Don Hanna Memorial and BOA Bedford on the same day. It really seems like this is a new tradition for Martin, doing double comps. Anyways, I feel like they're gonna opt out of finals here because they likely have a higher chance at making finals there than here as it is an easier contest. I just don't see how they could make finals at both due to the time constraints...

Here's Ennis vs Waxahachie. I am impressed with Waxahachie's performance quality this early in the season and how they're already performing most of the show and in full uniform. Excited to see them later at contests. Performance starts at 1:44:45 -

So I made a top 10 prediction list earlier but I decided to make one of the entire area. Man, this area is a bloodbath with so many area finals level bands, like probably the top 16 can make a statement for finals, and every top 10 can make state at ANY other area, but unfortunately we can't make everyone happy so for this area, here's my predictions: 1. Wakeland 2. Lone Star 3. Argyle 4. Lebanon Trail 5. McKinney North 6. The Colony 7. Lovejoy 8. Walnut Grove 9. Centennial 10. Anna 11. Memorial 12. Emerson 13. Reedy 14. Frisco 15. Melissa 16. Liberty 17. Independence 18. Heritage 19. Sherman 20. Ryan 21. Denton 22. Denison (may or may not advance) -

Yeah I do realize my predictions are questionable. And it might seem like Martin's jump is big but that's because all the region 20 bands are gone. And I guess I might've place some bands a little too high and others a little too low. Anyways, here's my revised 11-17: 11. South Grand Prairie 12. Legacy 13. Mansfield 14. North Crowley 15. Martin 16. Crowley 17. Arlington So how does this seem? A little bit more accurate? -
Class 6A Top Teams 1. DeSoto 2. Duncanville 3. North Shore 4. Westlake 5. North Crowley 6. Summer Creek 7. Southlake Carroll 8. Lake Travis 9. Atascocita 10. Cibolo Steele 11. Katy 12. Westfield 13. Coppell 14. Ridge Point 15. Prosper 16. Klein Collins 17. Allen 18. The Woodlands 19. Shadow Creek 20. Bridgeland 21. Dickinson 22. Rockwall 23. Houston Lamar 24. Vandegrift 25. Fulshear

Well well well, it's that time of year again, football season is back in Texas! The countdown for the 2024 football season has been ongoing for 253 days and we are only 4 days away! This season will for sure be an exciting one as it was a realignment year, and it's fun to play different teams every other year. But the real question is, who is gonna be that team to play 16 games in the span of 17 weeks, and take home the coveted state trophy? One thing's for sure, the teams are fired up this year! If you're a fan of football in addition to band, then this page is for you.

And one thing I forgot to note, Longview is a military band, so even though they won't be at the area contest, they still count toward the total numbers of bands when determining area finals and state spots. Also they do get 1's every year so that'll likely be the case for this year as well. -

Here's my predictions for every band in this area. I think this may actually be the strongest area in the state. I think every band will advance and there's definitely going to be some state potential bands left behind. With that being said, here's my early predictions for Area J: 1. Marcus 2. Hebron 3. Flower Mound 4. Mckinney Boyd 5. Prosper 6. Wylie East 7. Wylie 8. Mckinney 9. Rock Hill 10. Byron Nelson 11. Braswell 12. Plano 13. Little Elm 14. Lewisville 15. Allen 16. Plano East 17. Eaton 18.
