Yeah, true I accidentally forgot grapevine, I think they would be 7th, between azle and midlothian. -
Well, it appears that there are some new faces at this comp, so finals is gonna be tough this year. With that being said, here's my predictions: 1. Birdville 2. North Crowley 3. James Martin 4. Fossil Ridge 5. Saginaw 6. Chisholm Trail 7. Cleburne 8. Castleberry 9. Weatherford 10. Midlothian Heritage

Definitely, I actually have them winning this. Also, I wouldn’t sleep on Steele or Brennan either, given that they made area finals in a challenging area last year. Now with that being said, here’s my top 10 predictions: 1. Argyle 2. Steele 3. Brennan 4. Richardson 5. Boswell 6. Boerne Champion 7. Haughton 8. Paschal 9. Guyer 10. Parkway Also I would take this with a grain of salt because I’m not familiar with a lot of these bands and I’m just kinda going based off of results and some straight up guesses.

Yeah, it is understandable. Like for example, in Area B 6A, Southlake Carroll is the one right smack in the middle and in my scenario for bands in the middle, they would most likely go D2 because that's basically a lock for them rather than going D1 and having to compete with Copppell, Keller, Timber Creek, and Bell.

I know this is kind of a random thought, but should the UIL create split divisions (Division 1 and Division 2) for Area/State marching contests? Because it seems like now all sports (Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, Baseball and Softball) is having a division split, essentially doubling the state champions, just like in football. So could we see this in marching band in the next few years? Here's how I think it could work: Once you have finished Region contests for your entire area and you get the number of bands that have advanced to Area, you then rank all of the bands by their school enrollment number. Once you do that, the top half of schools go to Division 1, while the others go to Division 2 (ex: 24 bands advance, 12 in D1, 12 in D2). In the event that there is an odd number of bands that advanced, the one right I the middle can choose what division they want to compete in (ex: 25 bands advance, top 12 go to D1 and the bottom 12 go to D2, the 13th school could go wherever they want). And then for state contests, there would also be a D1 and D2, but the bands that were D1 at the Area level would continue to stay D1 at the State lever, and vice versa. So, do yall think this could be a reality one day?

UIL 5A Area C 2024
BandNerd07 replied to clarinetistkai05's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Yeah, I could see why you would put Kaufman higher. I think I just put them lower because I didn’t know exactly how they were gonna do in a higher classification. And yeah I do think that lakeview and highland are interchangeable. The 3rd-5th place bands could change, and the 6th-8th place bands as well. Really Texas and Terrell could get kicked out if the other bands I listed below pull something off. -

2024 Sound of Springtown Marching Showcase
BandNerd07 replied to RJG's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Every band competes together at this contest, and out of the maximum of 20 bands, 10 will advance to finals. However, the outstanding band in each class that does not advance will perform in finals exhibition (usually 2A and 3A bands). -

Been a while since I’ve opened this thread, but here’s my early predictions for this area (assuming that 30 qualify for area): 1. Centennial 2. Richland 3. Aledo 4. Colleyville Heritage 5. Birdville 6. Azle 7. Grapevine 8. Midlothian 9. Fossil Ridge 10. Saginaw 11. Burleson 12. Chisholm Trail -
UIL 6A Area J 2024
BandNerd07 replied to crunchycookie3's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Yeah I could understand why you may have McKinney and Byron over East or Braswell, but I kinda did that just to mix it up a little and see different finalists because if you notice, 10 out of the 12 finalists from area C moved here. If definitely would be more interesting seeing different finalists every year to add to the excitement, but it will ultimately be up to what the judges feel like that day. -

I don't think I've done my predictions for this area yet so I'm going to give it a shot: 1. Marcus 2. Hebron 3. Flower Mound 4. Prosper 5. Wylie 6. Wylie East 7. McKinney Boyd 8. Rock Hill 9. Braswell 10. Plano East Possible other finalists: Mckinney Lewisville Byron Nelson Plano Sheesh, this is going to be brutal. When you only have 4 state spots and 3 of them are going to the very best of the best, essentially everyone else is fighting for a single spot. Really, the last spot can also go to any of the Wylies or Boyd. As for the other spots, it's gonna be war. But I think one down side to creating a 3rd area in north tx is making it even more difficult to advance to state. Area B also has this issue, but it's much more noticeable here than there. And one thing I'm definitely going to miss about having only 2 areas is the insane competition and more state positions. -
Sheesh, this is the most stacked this contest has been in a long time, I think since 2021. In 2022, there weren't a lot of bands that signed up so they just advance everyone to finals. As for 2023, more signed up, but there weren't enough significantly good bands here, maybe like 3-5, but this year is just on another level with talent. I think the "downfall" of this comp was with the introduction of BOA Prosper. In fact, I'm surprised that a lot of top tier bands signed up for here instead of Prosper... it definitely wouldn't be a bad idea to add 1 or 2 extra finals spots, but I'm not sure if they would do it though...

So I know it's been a while since this thread has been updated but here's my very very very early predictions for this area: 1st - Coppell: I think it's pretty obvious what they will win this area because they was been the defending area Champs for 3 years in a row and this year will be no different. Also this is truly the only lock for state IMO. 2nd-7th - Bell, Keller, KC, TC, Haltom, SLC: This is definitely going to be a massive bloodbath over who's going to get the last 3 spots, but anything could happen. As of now, I have Bell, Keller, and TC going, but it could reverse too. 8th-10th - Lake Ridge, Mansfield, Legacy, Trinity, Boswell, S. Grand Prairie, Martin, North Crowley: So with LR and Martin, they must have just had a bad/unlucky season last year so maybe things will turn around for them this season for the better. As for the other bands, they are definitely rising programs that have seen tremendous growth last season and these patterns I would imagine will continue throughout next season, but then again anything could happen. -
