  1. Well a reason why woodwinds haven't yet been incorporated more to DCI is that they are a hassle to maintain. You have paddings to worry about, the potential of chipped reeds, they're more susceptible to moisture and heat, etc. It could end up being more expensive to maintain many woodwind instruments at a time.
  2. I'm glad you'll get to experience it as well! Enjoy it, that exhibition crowd is amazing and they will be cheering you guys on!
  3. Lake Belton 2024 Production: Eternal Glory Musical Selections from Dimitri Shostakovich Symphony No. 10 Symphony No. 5 Piano Concerto No. 2 Jazz Waltz No. 2 Fire of Eternal Glory
  4. Very excited to see how this show develops. I'm interested to see how they use Finale from Six considering how fun and chaotic that song is on Broadway.
  5. This sounds like fun: John B. Alexander Tom Glenn Braswell Aledo Argyle Dripping Springs North Shore Lone Star College Park Cedar Ridge Midland Cy Woods Celina China Springs Magnolia West
  6. It's realignment year! This area is getting a bit more interesting with Weiss back in 5A and New Braunfels moving down to 5A as well. A total of 31 eligible bands are in this area which could mean a potential of 6 bands moving on to state. Region 8: (6) Belton Chaparral Ellison Lake Belton University Waco Region 12: (7) Alamo Heights Lockhart MacArthur New Braunfels Pieper Seguin Smithson Valley Region 14: (2) Victoria East Victoria West Region 18: (9) Anderson Bastrop Cedar Creek Crockett Hays Lehman McCallum Navarro Richards School For Young Women Leaders Region 26: (7) Conally East View Elgin Georgetown Hendrickson Pflugerville Weiss
  7. Anyways good luck to all the finalist bands! Can't wait to see all these amazing programs at their fullest potential!!
  8. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't he a former director for Carmel? I do believe that judges should not judge any competition that any affiliations are performing at. Even if they're not aware of it there is still possibility for potential bias.
  9. I heard they were immediately bypassed to 0 place so we’re all good! Also why can’t people be happy for each program. It’s such a huge accomplishment to make state and every performer did absolutely amazing! We should be proud of each and everyone of them.
  10. Congrats to all the bands that advanced to state!! Hendrickson looks to be a force to be reckoned with at state and is looking for another state finals appearance. Also, can we talk about how Pieper and Lake Belton are probably having their best season to date? Pieper has had very impressive showings at competitive competitions and this is another example of how strong they are. Meanwhile, Lake Belton has made their third state appearance in the first four years as a program adjusting very well from 4A to 5A. I'm very shocked Hays and McCallum didn't make state but I'm sure they'll find a way to come back stronger next year!
  11. Anyone covering the contest since this thread has been pretty quiet?
  12. I can guarantee you that size does not matter much regarding competition. Rouse is fairly small compared to its competitors like Cedar Park and they still go out and produce very well. That being said Lake Belton is on a good trajectory right now with their program so it depends on how much work they put in these past two weeks (even though the rain did mess with these bands a bit but hey at least we got rain).
  13. I'm not very familiar with US Bands judging. May I ask how the adjudication for those contests works?
  14. Bands with very early call times are going to feel it Saturday. Especially if those bands make it to finals. I'm rooting for them to push on through!
  15. I believe Lake Belton also beat another TMC finalist band (Brandeis) by a considerable margin at Vista Ridge. However, anything can happen in the Area Round and I don't know if they're quite up to the level of Hays, McCallum, and Hendrickson since we haven't had a competition to compare them all.
  16. Oh wow how did I forget about Pieper. Yeah I could see them being in the run for state, it just depends how the other bands clean up during this next week. It would be very hard for me to see them not make it to state.
  17. So with 25 bands competing at Area, that means 5 bands will represent Area D at State. Really opens the door for a lot of potential state qualifiers. Here's how I would rank currently: State Locks: Hendrickson, Jack C. Hays, McCallum State Bubble: Georgetown, Lake Belton, Canyon, Seguin, Smithson Valley Area Finalists: Belton, MacArthur, LASA, Alamo Heights, Pflugerville Then again I could be entirely wrong. Any given competition!
  18. I think they have a pretty good case to make as they beat out Glenn last year at Area, not to mention their result at Vista Ridge. It'll be pretty close to see who gets the 4th spot.
  19. Top 3 are easily: Rouse, Cedar Park, and Leander. I count 23 bands here so 4 qualify for state. I think it'll be between Liberty Hill or Tom Glenn, as they have been emerging as great programs.
  20. I attended finals for this comp for the first time and I just have to say that this competition is actually insane. Each band performed at such a high level. The LISD schools are just so dedicated to their craft and it's amazing to see them perform. Wakeland has such a powerful sound and is an outstanding 5A program. I can't wait to see how much each band develops over the course of the marching season!
  21. Lake Belton most definitely surprised a couple of people at this contest. Also I did not expect Brandeis to place that low. Either way congrats to all the finalists!!
  22. Finals Results 1. Winston Churchill 2. McNeil 3. Lake Belton 4. William H. Taft 5. Liberty Hill 6. New Braunfels 7. Sandra Day O'Connor 8. Hutto 9. Louis D. Brandeis 10. Weiss If someone has the exact score for each of the bands please feel free to post it!
  23. It makes sense as the Region 8 Contest is on the same day and I believe Midway is hosting again.
