  1. The only scoring thing that seemed really off was Music Birdville getting first in prelims by the music 3 judge and in finals richland getting dead last by the music 3 judge, other than that I dont have anything to complain about for judging, scorings are different from different judges and getting 3rd in caption and also getting 7th in the same caption is quite normal.
  2. Wow. Huge congrats to Midlothian, never thought they would get 2nd this year at area and colleyville proved they are back after not qualifying for state last year. Grapevine’s program has come a long way to get here i would love to see them make state they have been close. Huge congrats to all the bands and the results just show you how competitive this area is once again
  3. Does anyone know how many bands have qualified for area here? And how many bands are left for region tomorrow?
  4. I wouldn’t seperate Burleson Centennial from the rest as being locks, the only band locked for state right now is Aledo. Burleson Centinnial i could see lose to Colleyville and richland at area and vice versa. They definitely need their best run at area finals for a shot.
  5. Although Burleson Centinnial lost to Colleyville twice the judging is different at area, there isnt a guard caption which was a key factor for Colleyville to beat Burleson centinnial, Burleson centinnial took music visual captions against Colleyville but it was close. But yeah dont get me wrong Colleyville’s music and visuals is still extremely strong. Burleson centennial vs Colleyville in this area is seriously just a toss up imo
  6. Hopefully it will be 5 and it probably most likely will be, this area deserves more bands to go to state
  7. https://youtu.be/-1IQHZI7hLY here is Colleyville’s finals performance, thats the only video I could find on youtube.
  8. I agree, I have Grapevine and Azle both beating Chisholm trail right now. Still not certain though if azle is above grapevine even though they did beat grapevine at boa prosper. But Grapevine getting 10th is definitely gonna be a suprise they’re definitely contending for top 8 at the very least. I also think midlothian is just better than Birdville and Grapevine and azle this year, midlothian will definitely make finals at area this year and contest for top 6.
  9. Chisholm trail being in the mix of birdville/fossil ridge/grapevine is totally fair, all the finalists from 6-10 spots are gonna be close i just have a emphasis on midlothian being quite impressive this season. Good luck Chisholm Trail! I’ll probably see if i can change my predictions after next week’s competition results though😄
  10. Here are my predictions now: 1. Aledo 2. Colleyville Heritage/Burleson Centinnial 3. Colleyville Heritage/Burleson Centinnial 4. Richland 5. Midlothian 6. Birdville/Fossil Ridge/Grapevine 7. Birdville/Fossil Ridge/Grapevine 8. Birdville/Fossil Ridge/Grapevine 9. Azle 10. Chisholm Trail
  11. I meannn burleson centinnial beat richland by 2 points…cville beat burleson centinnial twice in prelims and finals at the birdville marching festival… fossil ridge and birdville are neck and neck… and fossil ridge didnt make finals at birdville marching festival… and at mansfield preview of champions cville barely beat midlothian and lost to them in prelims by less than .3 points… nobody knows what azle is gonna pull off here. So based off of that realistically aledo is prob winning then followed with cville then burleson centinnial then richland and idk why everyone is counting out midlothian. Either way this competition is a must watch, gonna be a dog fight again for state
  12. Colleyville definitely here this season for redemption.. how did the colony drop to 8th? I havent seen the actual results from the judges… and Burleson centennial’s drumline is outrageous 😅
  13. Congrats to all the bands! Colleyville just were solid on every aspect with their drill and music, the flag choreo was really beautiful too although there were some stickouts which hurt their guard score i think, midlothian absolutely shocked me on how much they have improved from last year and their music selection is really beautiful. But some pretty noticeable visual mistakes which they will fix, area f state spot will be a heck of a battle…
  14. yeah both. honestly i feel like lakeridge's drill and choreo was more challenging last year than this year's. the harder the drill the better your visual score will be (if clean ofc) so like i dont see them improving visually this year.
  15. I have no Idea how good Berkner is this year because I havent seen any film of them but they are your 6a state qualifiers so they will be hard to beat in this competition. Lake Ridge hasnt really changed much i think visually they are the same as last year but atleast musically they are better so they should score in the 80s at this competition now. As for Colleyville heritage i have no idea how good they are either but they always pull off solid scores, dont know what to expect from them though because they have new directors so this will be interesting... outside of the top 3 thought i think it will be 4th place midlothian, 5th summit, 6th timberview 7th legacy and 8-10th is unpredictable
  16. wait so how does this work? is it the order bands will be performing in? if thats the case then that doesnt make sense because dont bands have to qualify by getting division 1 ratings at uil region to even be in area in the first place?
  17. Lake ridge definitely improved from last year. Visually i dont see much of a difference but their brass is really solid, idk something with last year’s lake ridge music didnt feel right
  18. Colleyville has a new head band director this year that was the assistant band director at grapevine last year, im interested to see how that affects both programs at this competition. The Grapevine directors did a fantastic job last season of lifting the program to 6th which i think is one of their highest finishes in 10 years or so. Also Colleyville’s former head band director is now the head band director at Granbury! We’ll see how Granbury does in this too, finals maybe?
  19. I dont understand why Azle does so much better in BOA than uil area…
  20. With two 6a bands coming in i have a feeling that this area might turn into a top 5 goes to state which un that case Grapevine making state isnt a far shot. Grapevine would have to get passed Colleyville or Birdville but its not impossible.
  21. Grapevine should be in the top 8 race atleast
  22. Colleyville Heritage 2024 show production: Mettle Music Selections: Asphalt Cocktail- John Mackey Dance Movements- Philip Sparke Black Dog- Scott Mcallister Bells for Stokowski- Michael Daugherty Tour Schedule: Mansfield Preview of champions Broken Arrow Marching invitational Birdville Marching invitational Uil Area f Uniforms: They changed their uniforms to Black with a hint of white with gold flakes on the top right. Very excited to see how this show turns out
  23. Yeah bands do improve alot but sometimes it just comes down to the show design and creativity at the end of the day. Nothing to do with how much “better” the kids are because everyone works just as hard as each other. Of course if your show is harder to execute then you will get points if you execute it well. So yeah there are limits to band’s potential in their show design. And even if you have your best run you still might loose but it isn’t your fault. Everyone band deserves to be applauded.
  24. Brewer last year definitely better than this year. Every year is a new year for any band and last year wont determine how you would do this year. Brewer so far hasn’t really impressed me too much. I mean Birdville marching festival they lost to Burleson and finishing 8th. I see Brewer making finals but having them beat midlothian, birdville, and grapevine and now even burleson its very hard to see them finishing higher than 8th. Who knows maybe somehow they sneak their way past 8th.
  25. Yeah cville was pretty dirty at birdville marching festival visually imo. Cville always finds a way to max out at the end of the season tho so im excited to see how they have improved. Their show is great they just need to execute to the fullest. if they do show up with their best I can see them beating Richland. Id also have to say I wouldnt put grapevine too low in the placements, they have had some good results and have improved alot from last year. Definitely a finalist band for me for sure. All i know is Richland and Azle can get the results, the fight for state is gonna be intense.
