As expected cedar park was awesome and their music was phenomenal. Maybe team Texas will take the music caption home once again. We will have to wait and see though. On a side note. UIL please just one season let the texas bands practice more than 8 hours so they can be visually clean so EVERYONE can go that year because they're cleaner and then grand nats just becomes a blood bath will all the power houses attending. I think that would be awesome.

What else are people supposed to use to support their predictions. The melissa showcase? 🤣 Please. Area is the most recent so that will be used to gauge where bands sit. That's all

I'm not hating on north lamar I'm just expressing my opinion about them this year. I have already stated that I have enjoyed watching their shows a lot like enso it goes. Their a talented band but this year like Canton they are not performing at their usual level. If you want to take that like I am hating on them go ahead but that's no where near my intentions.

No that was 7 years ago when they got 2nd place at the 3a level so no one going this year has experienced the Alamodome. They do have somewhat of an indoor so that may help with having an idea of what it will sound like but still no where close to the acoustics in the actual dome.

Correct. A month ago contest isn't an accurate thing of what will happen after four weeks but that same day Farmersville beat them twice very comfortably but yes a lot can change after 4 weeks of heavy cleaning. I just don't think North Lamar was able to close the gap. I compared their shows and marching wisdom it's no competition. Farmersville is much better visually. Then the music which is where North Lamar somehow beat them I think Farmersville still has the edge. Their double tonguing feature is an example. It took me a while to find the part where North Lamar does it and that should say something, but Farmersville just had a much better feature that was crisp fast and has some dynamics to it which is hard to do. We will see how they compare at state in a few days time.

Normally you would be correct. Farmersville has never been better than North Lamar but not this year. It was shown when they went to Celina. Farmersville had a pretty bad run at Royce City but came back and swept them at Celina. I also am confident that if North Lamar showed up to Mineola they would comfortably taken and 2nd place. Not sure how they were place ahead of Farmersville at area.

I see Farmersville potentially being top 5 as well. They march really good and play really good. They just have to get their music as good as their marching. If they cleaned more than the bands that beat them they will score higher if they weren't able to close the gap the won't. It's just a matter of who cleaned the most after area.

Not sure yet but definitely the top 5 from area c. Panther Creek, China Spring, and Gatesville from area b. Davenport and Calallen and some other bands. I have yet to watch all the shows so I have no idea right now. I just know area c will do some damage at state.

Drawing order will definitely play a big part in band placements this year. Those top 10 bands will be amazing and extremely competitive with one another. We'll see how everything plays out.

Definitely the directors is what makes the biggest difference. The designer is also a big part. Farmersville used VanDoren this year which composes for cedar park, rouse, argyle and schools like that. And what a shocker Farmersville is having their best year yet. They just need next year to have better leadership by teachers and students if they want to make a streak of going to state.

We all understand the recipe. It's sections play while the other marches and vice versa with some moments of the whole band playing. The solos are long so the band can do lots of visuals and get those points. Next is that crisp percussion break for more points. It's the same generic formula that bands like vandegrift, cedar park use. They simply fill the rubric. Yes they sound awesome have lots of talent but that's why their shoes are not liked as much. They're very boring. However, I give credit where credit is due and all the bands are very clean and talented. They don't send multiple players to state for no good reason. It's just these shows are really boring...

Area c has military bands. In reality like 39 bands for certified for area. However, military bands can decide to go straight to state and not compete in the open class. They can decide to compete in the open class but they usually don't do really good so they choose to go straight to state yet their certification allows more bands to qualify for state.

Definitely, in this area I agree with the bands that advanced. The order doesn't really matter because everything resets and the bands have one week to give it their all and try to reach finals. I believe this area will definitely do some damage at state as well.

I heard something about Farmersville being absolutely tanked by a judge both prelims and finals. You're from Farmersville so I think you would know more than me but if that's true that's disgusting. Looking at the recap I kind of see and Farmersville shouldn't have been placed that low in music. Their sound was very balanced and good. Their double lounging feature was awesome as well and if I recall they were the ONLY band with a multiple articulation moment. In my eyes Farmersville was at least top 3 in music. Their sound was awesome and their hard moments were not messy whatsoever. They definitely should've been top 3 from what I saw from the stands.

Yes please watch their show. It's all park and bark and their music isn't challenging whatsoever. Euther way the judges thought they were clearly the best band so I guess I'm a terrible judge or we're all missing something here that we don't know...

This is actually hilarious because celina swept yet their show is the epitome of parking and barking. I can't with certainty because I didn't pay much attention to their show at finals but it's the typical woodwind playing with brass marching and vice versa. So...

Definitely, it was nice seeing those kids go absolutely crazy when they broke ranks at retreat. It's tough being alternate for so long because the area you were in was super brutal.
