Very happy for them, this is the first time ever they have had a district sweep in finals, plus its the first time since 2008ish since Richardson has made area finals which is a really cool step for the program. Also, CONGRATULATIONS TO SASCHE ON GETTING 1ST!!!! They really deserved it, great job! -

I wish we could have more state spots in this area. I've noticed this but many schools that are on the state level just can't make state because of bands that place super high every year and take up the state spots (think LISD in area J, or the Keller schools last year in area B ) . Like many people could probably agree that schools like the Wylie schools and many of the RISD schools could easily make state in less competitive areas. Just wanted to put this out there that no matter what the placements are this Saturday, every band matters, and your hours of practice weren't all for nothing. These are gonna be memories that last forever. -

I doubt Tyler legacy or heath would place in finals but it would be cool to see them -

richardson had multiple people fall because of their tarp getting caught in the wind and they had electronics failures. I wouldn't say BOA Waco was a good judgement of their placement in area. Especially because people had them possibly making finals at Waco. -

I meant to say they didn't perform the end of their show due to time constraints and probably something to do with their tarp. but it has been pretty clean at games from what I saw at the Pearce game -

that's real one of my friends is the opener Mello soloist and he told me early season that their opener had like 2 moves but a ton of crazy choreo with not really hard music I feel like Richardson has the opposite thing going on, they have a (relatively) difficult music book (especially woodwinds), And their drill seems pretty difficult, but they don't have much visual stuff outside of the opener and beginning of the closer. -

I would like to add, Lake highlands did make area finals in area B every year since 2021, but that doesn't automatically mean they would go to state. -

I feel like lake highlands has been the least likely band to make state out of RISD, I'm curious what made you put them so high, and also why Pearce and Richardson are below Berkner, Obviously Berkner is doing great but I am pretty sure Pearce would place higher (based on their season so far) but we will see based on how Pearce does at Duncanville tomorrow. Also from what I've seen, the score North Forney got at US Bands Dallas isn't really indictive of their placement in Area, personally I would have expected (based of their run) that Richardson would have placed above them. Also one of those judges seemed all over the place in finals. Also, Garland is most definitely placing above mesquite from what I've seen in both bands. Idk where I'd place rockwall, I saw some of their show and it didn't really stand out to me. -

I feel bad for the schools like Waxahachie, Richardson, and North Forney who go super early, plus Richardson has an away game the night before in Lake Highlands. Those 3-5 AM call times are gonna suck, plus they will end up having to stay at the competition from like 10 AM until at least 8:45 PM, but realistically more like 10 or 11, assuming they make finals. But I do feel like runs earlier in the day do end up being cleaner, since the bands aren't tired yet, but after those long days it must suck to do a run late at night too. -

on another note, here is a better vid of richardson from the day before waco starting at the ballad. this is probably a better judge of their show than the nightmare Waco run -

For the uniform thing, do you mean how the guard has a mid show uniform change (A few actually) or how they have the thunder stuff on the marcher's uniforms the whole show instead of just the big hit before their closer. -

From what I've heard from people in the band, they definitely agree that the tarp is the most difficult part of their show to clean, it also cuts into rehearsal times, having to get time to set it, and put it up in rehearsal. The brass section seems to have been getting better just like they grew last season from what I remember at US Bands Southwestern Championships. Their Mello line during the brass feature is one of my favorites this season. Their guard is mostly freshman this year, seeing how it has doubled since last year, which may be why it is so hard to clean, I will say the dance soloist (and the guy who has the duet with her as they pull the tarp) seem to be very strong performers. Richardson has been consistently pushing out a few really strong guard members every year. -

Their guard director seems to be pretty new to the scene, he only taught at a few schools. From what I've noticed their varsity guard moved down from getting 2nd in Scholastic A champs in 2023 to moving back to Scholastic AA this year after he started teaching in fall of 2023. They have been getting better from what I saw at BOA Waco though. -

Richardson did not have their best run during BOA Waco, their electronics crashed for their front ensemble, vocal soloist, and mic'd marchers. also there seemed to be problems with their tarp. I wouldn't say BOA waco would be a great judge of their actual area placement, plus it's the first time in the program's history going to a BOA regional. I also do agree Berkner seems to not be as strong as last year, though they still have a shot at state. -

There are a ton of bands going from area C, Richardson, Garland, Sachse, and Irving are all going, according to the schedule, cant wait to see how it goes. The area C shakeup is honestly making it so hard to judge who makes finals. we will have to wait for Waco to see how garland and Richardson do against Sachse, but I really hope these underdog schools do great. This area is turning out to be much more competitive than I initially thought it would be.
