Where there any drum corps that played "The Engulfed Cathedral" for their balad? Just wondering... -

David Gillingham is also the guy that wrote "Galactic Empires" is it not? I love that song, and I also like "With Heart and Voice", my region band played it one year and it was cool. -
Area B Marching Contest

well then, nevertheless, it looks as though legacy is a fairly new band, and it's pretty surprising that they pushed birdville/the colony out of going to state... it will be interesting to see how such a young band does at state next week. -
What are some good songs that are not used as much in marching shows that you think would be good to be put out in the field? I recently listened to the band version of Kabalevsky's Overture to Colas Breugnon and I couldn't help but wonder how it would sound if it was used for a marching show, i think it's a very programmatic that can be used to set a specific mood, and it would be a great compliment for the colorguard. Let me know which songs you can think of!

My prediction for the finalists. Dripping Springs Poteet Friendswood Legacy Newman Smith Hendrickson Forney LBJ Roma Southwest I think for the state title I would predict either Poteet or Friendswood to win. They are both outstanding bands that will be hard to beat. But it all depends on how hard each band works these next few days.

that they did, that they did... -
I am sorry for my disrespect. I know i was only asking about the friendswood band and I reacted on emotions rather than thought. I can only wish the friendswood band the best of luck at state, you are one of my favorites, great brass sounds. Again, I am sorry for acting such a way and I hope this doesn't tarnish the reputation that hendrickson has for being a very professional band. I do not speak for the band anymore, as I am now an alumni. This was definitely a mistake on my part.
-
are you trying to imply that hendrickson is the band that you're worrying about the most? because i think it pretty harsh to not consider the other bands that in my opinion are very much qualified to be able to beat you at state... such as poteet who has won the last two state competitions and last possible chance at honor band, and legacy, a former 5A that is really good. it is being biased saying you think friendswood will beat hendrickson at state (since that's how it came out)... you shouldn't try to speak for the band as the show will do that in itself. i wish you luck, and hopefully this will the band's year.

can anybody fill me in on friendswood and poteet this year? these are two of the best bands in the state, but i haven't had the chance to see either of their shows this year and i was wondering what they might be about/how they are doing so far this season... please and thank you =D

AREA D Marching Contest

LBJ was really good. Me and my mate both were expecting them in at least 2nd place, right after Dripping Springs. They're not that much of an underdog, they've been making area finals for quite some time now I believe... and I congratulate them on their State qualification, they desserve it. -

I must say I was reluctant at first when I saw a band your size get on the stage... but when yall started playing, my mouth dropped. Amazing balanced sounds, and probably the best tuba tone I heard all evening. You all were great, I was astonished. I had to look down at the program to realize that your band director was the one and only Jeremy Spicer. You are in good hands, and I can't wait to see you all when you have become the best 4A band in the state. In my opinion you were cleaner than hays... but I guess the judges didn't think so. Best of luck to your band at your last competition. -
why is the only real major in a euphonium forum about having to hold up a piece of metal? i dont get that. whatever happened to the artistic musical side of playing the instrument. our instrument has one of the most beautiful tones in the band and a pretty big range compared to other instruments. what about concert pieces that feature the euphoniums like melody shop. Festive Overture has an awsome euph part also. and the solos? Pantomime? Morceau de Concert? Fantasia? comon people this is also a concert band euph forum. and in my opinion Sterling makes the bests euphs for soloistic work.
