  1. I think Redwater, if they have a run in finals that is on spot technically will win. They have the most exciting show in the field, they just have to make sure the small details are there to take the State championship. I think after that it is toss up of Mineola and Atlanta. Mineola had the best run I have seen of their show in finals of Area and beat Redwater by 1 pt, who did not have a flawless run technically in my opinion. I am interested in seeing CH Yoe, Holliday, and Howe shows since we don’t get to see those in east Texas much. Could be a dark horse that stepped down from 4a with all the redistricting that went on this year. It will definitely be an exciting day for all bands. Hope weather holds up. Do not want to go through another year of battling lighting and rain and temp drops to 40 while trying to get a 40ft stage together and down the hill. lol.
  2. State Marching prelim schedule
  3. Well said. Yes it was super hot out there yesterday. Feels like we go from one extreme weather event to another each year with area performances. QC, Winnsboro, Commerce all had good sound I thought but the energy and design of Redwater, Mineola, and Atlanta were far above anyone there that day. Mineola I thought put together their best performance I had seen of that show in the finals. Redwater had issues with mics not connecting well which made some of the solos/duets not as potent during the show. All in all I will be excited to hopefully see these three bands fight it out in the finals of the state marching contest. I know there are standards in judging but it is a bit subjective as well so it sometimes depends on what judges you get in whether they love your show or not sometimes. I think Area C will be well represented at State this year. As far as wishing ill will—-that’s really not an example I think a parent would want to present to kids. I find myself critiquing the design or the theme with the music but to wish a kid to do bad on a solo/duet is crazy. All those kids have worked countless hours to put on a few shows. I may not like a school because of a rivalry or such but at end of the day applaud those kids performing-they have put in some work. just wanted to shout out to all the volunteers that feed, bring water to warm ups, setup props, move props, load props, drive trucks and trailers hours to bring these shows alive. If you haven’t been apart of a band village you don’t know the hard work the kids and parents put into these shows. Thanks to all that dedicate their time to let these kids shine. hope to see some great performances at State in a week.
  4. I would not be surprised if 4 of these bands make top 5 at SMBC. This Area C has been very good over the last 4-5 years that I have been following our band here in redwater.
  5. I will be there watch my daughter do colorguard for one of the bands. Figuring top 4 out of the 6 going to state will come from region 4.
  6. So if Eustace does not get a 1 to advance AreaC will only have 10 bands in finals and 5 going to state correct? Since we only currently have 29 bands that have progressed from regionals.
  7. I have found commerce and malakoff high school have moved on to area per their Facebook page
  8. I know the results. Does anyone have the judges scoring sheet for prelims and finals?
  9. Sorry forget previous post. My brain read that post differently in my head.
  10. How many more still have to compete in regionals?
  11. I will just politely disagree at this time. Mineola has always seemed to put on a good show but to say their show couldn’t be played by any other 3A band seems far fetched. I heard all three of the big hitters at region 4 today and it will be a super close margin between Atlanta, Mineola and Redwater for winning area C. I also think those three will be in the finals of state program as well. This area and this region seems to be the cream of crop for 3A bands in Texas. Hope all kids perform well during each performance. All these kids put in so much time to perform this shows that are spectacular. See everyone at area in white house.
  12. It is usually a very good, well run event that has a lot of good bands at.
  13. Here is a schedule of the bands I had so far.
  14. You are correct. I would figure most of the bands did not have the final portion of their show. Redwater still has no props nor have they got the drill for their final remaining section. I think this year will be really tight amongst the top 4 bands in area c and I see these bands challenging each other at state for medals. This has been the best blend of sounds I have heard from Redwater since hearing them. I also heard Mineola at pleasant grove invitational and said that didn’t sound or look like a Mineola band. I am use to them knocking my face back in the stands and it just didn’t do that for me that time. I imagine they will improve as all bands so so I am very excited to see area c competition in the coming weeks. It should be one of the better comps.
  15. I have seen most. Have not seen Atlanta band in person. Redwater beat Mineola and winnsboro in pleasant grove invitational and yes I understand it is an early competition and not all is finalized but that is said for all the bands. I think Redwater has an excellent mixture in their sounds for the size band they are. I find it amazing that UIL will break up the 3A into upper and lower divisions for athletics but not for marching bands. I stand by my selections and really feel this will be an awesome year for Redwater band and their prisoner of time show!
