    So excited!! My predictions: 1. North Mesquite 2. Kaufman 3. HP 4. Poteet 5. West Mesquite 6. Lakeview Centennial Honestly, all of these are interchangeable by a place or two. Nice to see this area get competitive!!

    AMAZING take. Feel like these kind of cultural shows should stay as a thing of the past. If it's questionable, it shouldn't be done. North M's cultural hispanic show only worked well last year because their school and community is majority hispanic. Unfortunately, our perception of if it's appropriate or not won't affect scoring, (Im sure the older folks judging wouldn't care, as long as the show's executed well) So I'm sure Kaufman will still be fighting in those top spots.

    HP placed third of the day, beating schools like rockwall heath and lakeview centennial. Won almost all of the captions as well for 5A. Now, the mesquite schools weren't included in this ranking because they were hosting, but it seems like HP will make more of an upset at area than people on here have been saying. I didn't see them perform, but they must be doing something right.

    Their soloists stole the show imo. Nice full sounds, but i was sitting really close and their technique could use improvement.

    A bunch of the bands from this area will be present tomorrow at Mesquite Marching Festival. Excited to see how they're gonna stack up against eachother, even during the early-mid season.

    Its latin american dance themed. From what ive been told, the north mesq student population is like 90% hispanic, so the show is to pay homage to its' student's heritage.

    Personal prediction: Forney NM and poteet will fight for that second spot. It'll really come down to the details of that finals run imo. It feels unrealistic but i personally hope West snags state as well. Realistically i think they'll be close but not get it.

    Yeah, my band qualified and our director told us there was 23 that are advancing to area. Im willing to bet under 20 will actually go, leaving 3 state spots.
