Congrats to RR Jv, really cool to see them in the area contest, already 7 qualifiers from area one, if this keeps up through the other 4 regions there will be 5 state spots, still incredibly competitive to make state. -

I agree, I believe all of the finalists could go to state and they would fit right in, very tough area to advance in and it can sometimes be harder to make state from area d then it is to make state finals, super excited to see the result of this contest, the region contest is today so we will find out how many state spots will be available soon, should be 5, if its 4 that unfortunate and it will be so much harder for all the bands -
Uil 6A Area D Contest

I agree, Ctj will have a very tough time, last year it was scary and they got 3rd but man did all those bands who were outside state like Bowie, Mcneil, and Cedar ridge come back strong. I don't see CTJ making finals, probably 8th place here. The only problem is Area judges are not that professional and the scores can vary so much based off of one judge due to the way it works so if one judge just hates on CTJ or Mcneil or Bowie or Westwood then the are probably not making it, this is the reality of area if you don't believe me look at last year and look at cedar ridge, do you really think they deserve the rankings C. Moon gave them -
Well, i didn't mean in a demeaning way just they haven't seen as much competitive success but I applaud both percussion programs coming in and throwing it down despite not having as big of a name as the other bands. Also what makes you say the Dci and High school success differ bc if Vandy and Vista got first and second don't you think them having staff from top 5 drum corps have something to do with that
-
Anybody wanna talk abt Mcneil and Westwood perc...How are these two previously not-so-high-scoring band programs getting top 4 in perc right next to Vista who has Brian perez, a Boston crusaders staff member, a group that came oh so close to a Sanford this past year and Vandy whose perc director, Joe Hobbs, is writing for Carolina Crown. Any thoughts on this?????? Both Mcneil and Westwood going to the Lonestar drumline contest

Uil 6A Area D Contest
Band1234556 replied to Band1234556's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
TMC is actually insane, 6 finalists from TMC will be coming to this Area, in addition Cedar Ridge and CTJ will also be coming. In my opinion the hardest area bc in other areas results can be predicted super easily, not here -
Westwood is getting smaller and its unfortunately probably due to the academic pressure, people are worried that band will tank their GPA but Westwood is still good. Also 4th in drums for prelims and 5th in finals, pretty wild. Mcneil and Westwood with those great percussion programs Area D 6A has got to be the most up and down area, go check out the forum. About 3 weeks to clean until then, potential state from Area D are Mcneil, Westwood, DS, RR, Reagan, Bowie, CTJ, Cedar Ridge. So stacked
-
Does anybody here think that McNeil winning vista ridge and beating westlake changes anything. I know westlake isn’t going to this competition but they beat some formidable bands at round rock but it’s also hard to tell if they messed up or they rushed and tried to finish their show instead of holding back and making it clean

Date: November 2,2024 Location: Heroes Stadium- San Antonio Tx The UIL Area contest is less than 1 month away! This year, it's expected to be one of the most competitive areas in the state. 5 spots available for state and the state spots are always up for grabs, no school is safe. Will we see McNeil make their first state appearance or will Ctj come back and make yet another appearance at state, will dripping springs avenge their loss to Westwood last year or will Westwood get in the top 3? Will Cedar Ridge go to state after a strong showing at Round Rock? Follow this Forum to find out on November 2nd Area qualifiers from last year: Ronald Reagan HS Claudia Taylor Johnson HS, Round Rock HS Westwood HS Moe and Gene Johnson HS Dripping Springs HS Cedar Ridge HS Bowie HS McNeil HS Churchill HS Hutto HS Weiss HS Austin HS Copperas Cove HS Madison HS New Braunfels HS Anderson HS San Marcos HS Stony Point HS Midway HS Bryan HS Legacy of Educational Excellence Temple HS Harker Heights HS Roosevelt HS. Tell me if I missed anybody that could potentially make area: My incredibly early state qualifier predictions are Reagan, Round rock, Cedar ridge, Westwood, Dripping springs. My next 3 area Ctj, McNeil, Bowie Predictions and talk about schools down below
-
1. Vandegrift 2. Ronald Reagan 3. Rouse 4. Vista Ridge 5. Dripping Springs 6. Westwood 7. Leander 8. Round rock 9. Moe and Gene 10. James Bowie 11. Hendrickson 12. Mcneil Change in prediction, after the festival or bands for lisd and rrisd I think Mcneil deserves a finals spot, dripping springs is also cooking so I think they might see a top 6 finish
-
1. Vandegrift 2. Ronald Reagan 3. Rouse 4. Vista Ridge 5. Leander 6. Westwood 7. Round Rock 8. Dripping Spring 9. Moe and Gene 10. James Bowie 11. Hendrickson 12. Forney It's so hard to tell how the bottom 7 is going to play out bc we can't really predict if they haven't gone head to head yet with some going to San Marcos and some going to Round Rock, stacked comp.

I mean finalist is good an all but i was talking about actually making state in which case i think churchill would be out of the talk due to cedar ridge, reagon, westwood, dripping springs, ctj, Round rock, and possible even bowie and mcneil so yeah -

Bold prediction, area d is one of the if not the hardest to make state in. Reagan, Round rock, cedar ridge, Westwood, dripping springs, ctj, and then we can start thinking about hutto and McNeil -

Dang if vistas visual is this clean then Taylor Trevino did his job right. In the past few years their visual was the thing holding them back from a state championship…
