  1. It’s not gonna rain…it’s not gonna rain…it’s not gonna rain…everybody together…😁
  2. My daughter's school will not be using electronics Saturday, most likely, at area. And if the contest is rescheduled, likely none then either. That is a bit concerning as I would hate to see bands be thrown off not hearing solo cues. I know they have to watch the hands, but anything that is different can influence them. But you gotta do what you gotta do.
  3. I would imagine so. It would be listed as if prelims were finals results.
  4. Area Marching Contest - Inclement Weather Plan This just came to my email regarding the rain possibility: Good morning, This weekend, we are looking at the possibility of rain during the Area marching band contest. This is the contest that determines which bands advance to the UIL State Marching Band Contest. In the event of rain, one of two things will happen: Finals might be cancelled and prelims scores will be used to advance bands to the State Marching Band Contest. UIL will use their inclement weather date of Monday, November 4. Please keep this date open as we may need to perform this day to qualify for State. Now…hopefully we do not have to use this option, but it is the backup plan from UIL. I wanted to let you know asap so you could plan in the event that UIL chooses t to go this route.
  5. Funny story. I watched the Langham Creek video and the next video up was the state champion band from Wisconsin. No offense to Wisconsin but that state band wouldn’t even make a 2 in Texas. Our students don’t realize just how strong they are, no matter where they place or what rating they earn. Texas is just a whole different ballgame.
  6. I just got notification from my daughters band director they are using a bottom 5/top 5 finals format and so the finals draw is not necessarily accurate.
  7. Both Waller and Memorial looked great today.
  8. Of the four bands above I only saw JV and Ranch. In my opinion Ranch had a stronger performance. Ranch seems very competitive.
  9. I did not see them but they also made a 1. Everyone’s score is in except Cy Ridge as of this post. All bands except Stratford made a 1.
  10. I just missed them. Was hoping to see the show. My fil, retired band director, thought they did well. But I really don’t know specifics.
  11. I just watched Cy Ranch knock it put of the park! Very impressed!
  12. Sorry I’m just focused on tomorrow and forgot which weekend.
  13. I only see fog forecast for tomorrow
  14. I agree I’m not sure it is difficult enough
  15. As a Woods parent, Woods being first would be amazing. But I wonder if the show is geared more towards BOA than area? It's not really the typical UIL show.
  16. Woods started focusing on efficient rehearsals as soon as they started summer band and this is the fastest they have learned/cleaned a show. I’m hoping they can continue improving as they have in the past. After seeing the show all put together in uniform, I decided I really like their show. Wasn’t sure how it would go before I saw it. The kids like the show too and their buy in helps sell it. They do have some work to do though and, being in the middle of Bandtober, everyone is feeling tired. I think the competition is really tough this year and things could go any number of directions. It’s exciting to see so much talent in the area!

  18. I’m sending this to the kids. They will be so happy to hear these comments! 😊
  19. I’m a Cy Woods parent and I think they likely placed 11, not top half.
