  1. Yeah when someone says it’s absurd with zero explanation I’m assuming it’s based on reputation. Did they actually watch seven lakes? Were they here in person? 7L was spectacular. I’ve got no interest in pumping them up, they are a direct Bridgeland competitor. Just giving credit where it is due.
  2. Hey I don’t want it to happen. But it’s gonna happen.
  3. Here’s my prediction - what I think WILL happen. 1. Flower Mound 2. Vandegrift 3. Hebron 4. Marcus 5. Woodlands 6. Vista Ridge 7. Pearland 8. Reagan 9. Seven lakes 10. Coppell 11. Bridgeland 12. Cedar Ridge 13. Keller 14. Round Rock Here’s what I think SHOULD happen. 1. Flower Mound 2. Vista Ridge 3. Woodlands 4. Hebron 5. Vandegrift 6. Pearland 7. Marcus 8. Reagan 9. Seven Lakes 10. Coppell 11. Bridgeland 12. Cedar Ridge 13. Keller 14. Round Rock
  4. I’m sitting at the far end of the stadium and can view all the diagonals head on. They were pretty far off. I had to do a double take. It happened several times. Judges may not catch it.
  5. A stunning amount of visual dirt for Hebron. Also musically stunning as always. Not sure they beat Vista Ridge on music.
  6. Were we listening to the same show? I feel like I need to get in my car and blast an orchestral version of appian way to get it out of my system. They could have extended the most famous part and turned up the volume to face melt.
  7. Chef’s kiss to Vista Ridge. You know GE when you see it.
  8. Here’s what I have so far, assuming bottom 7 remains bottom 7. 8. Reagan 9. Seven lakes 10. Coppell 11. Bridgeland 12. Cedar Ridge 13. Keller 14. Round Rock
  9. Good grief seven lakes. Wow. Going to be dominating area I pretty soon.
  10. Practicing for finals. Hardcore move. 🙂 JK, I don't know.
  11. Exact same finals lineup as last year except swap cedar ridge and seven lakes for waxahachie and cyfair
  12. Considering that many bands' names were misspelled, two finalists were missing, Vista Ridge was omitted entirely ... I'm not so sure.
  13. Sometimes you just know to ignore certain predictions.
  14. [Dave Chapelle gif] Y'all, uh, got any more of them predictions? We still haven't seen the last block, but what are we thinking so far?
  15. Flying. Driving to San Antonio is bad enough!
  16. I was disappointed by Pearland's music book, or the arrangement, anyway. It didn't take full advantage of their strengths. When you have the biggest band in the competition, which is capable of blowing the roof off and sound good doing it, and you're playing Pines of Rome - that's the arrangement you go with? It could have been so thrilling if they'd really let the brass loose.
  17. I'm a BHS parent. As far as I know, I'm the only BHS parent who posts here. I have learned recently that a ton of y'all read this forum, so I hope you see this and I hope you share it with your friends. You're probably aware that we are scheduled to perform right after Vandegrift tomorrow in prelims. That might induce some anxiety in you - but it shouldn't. The one thing that has impressed me after 30 years in the Texas marching band community is how willing judges are to give credit where credit is due. No band walks onto the field with special treatment. You are judged based on your run, and that is it. Just look at BOA San Antonio results from last night. Vandegrift dropped several places from the year prior. Newcomers like MacNeil and Seven Lakes made it to finals. Flower Mound won. The judges' scoring sheets were all over the place! It goes to show that any band can win on any given day. It comes down to your run, and your run isn't luck. It isn't something that just happens to you and you hope for the best. Your run is in YOUR control. YOU happen to IT. So, focus on what McAnear, Marquart, Moore, Nguyen, and Willie have been telling you. Execute those things down to the last detail. Because when you're talking about the very upper tier of Texas bands, details matter. It's like the Olympics - fractions of a point separate the champion from 2nd place. If you want Bridgeland to move up in the rankings and in the eyes of the Texas music community, then tomorrow is your chance. You get to be compared side-by-side to last year's champion, who perhaps doesn't look quite as good this year. You might remember the details your directors have taught you, execute them perfectly, and have judges begin to think that maybe, possibly, Bridgeland should start to be mentioned in the same breath as top 5 bands. Top 5 bands, you say? Ridiculous, you say? Yeah, well, there was a time when people would have thought the same thing about Hebron, Vandegrift, Marcus, Woodlands, Flower Mound, Vista Ridge. There was a time that it would have been ridiculous to think any of those bands would be top 5. I know this because many years ago, I was in a top 5 band, and I would have laughed at all of those names. Today, nobody thinks it's ridiculous. And tomorrow, you can make that your reality. Going on right after Vandegrift isn't scary. It's an opportunity. Seize the day.
  18. Glad to see flomo win. I felt vista ridge should have at least placed higher than vandy, but it is what it is.
  19. Rooting for Vista Ridge, Woodlands, and Flomo in that order. I didn’t feel Hebron and definitely didn’t feel vandegrift.
