I agree, and the range of scores doesn’t really matter as rank is determined by the rank points added together

I think it’s still fine as UIL is ranked with the ranking points not weighted average

OH! I see what you meant! I thought you were talking about the ranking points. Yeah, that is a bit shocking in terms of how harsh the scores may be. Thanks for the explanation!

Yeah I definitely agree with you, cedar ridge has such strong percussion program yet couldn’t earn a spot in Moon’s ranking.

This was leaked on the day of the contest, so it is not likely made up.

There was no percussion judge, but there is a score for percussion that every music judge needs to fill up. The prelim breakdown was leaked and one music judge gave Cedar ridge percussion 8th in that caption, hope that makes sense.

As there are two texas bands participating (Southlake Carrol and Westwood), I think it would be interesting to talk about where they would be and how the contest would go as a whole!

Well the judges probably do not have that much experience towards percussion as there isn’t a dedicated perc judge at area. Cedar ridge’s percussion received 8th in percussion from one of the judges but personally i don’t think that necessarily demonstrates where their perc is.

I can definitely see both sides of the argument. I truly admire both bands’ effort and show that they performed in Area. I had so much fun watching them.

I’d also consider the judging system being different in the two contests mentioned, I think that should also be taken into consideration as well.

But that was before state becomes an every year contest… All good tho, the students are looking forward to the hyped end of their season!
