Hello, to all the china spring players here! I caught your performance on YouTube and your ballad is so good. Like, whoever your music composers are, wow. And the way you guys played the piece too just sells it. Does anyone know the name of the song?

Every band deserves to be praised and appreciated for their hard work and dedication. To put down bands this disrespectfully when all there has been is praise with a tiny bit of criticism is immature. Remember, band is all about working hard and having fun. To be a “band nerd” is to understand that marching band is built on positivity.

Thank you for the apology! That’s very mature of you to do. Negativity and comparison will always be a constant in competition, so don’t shame yourself if you feel that way, but remember to not take it out on others. Stay positive and don’t let negativity keep you from enjoying your season and your show.

Ohhhhh! That makes sense! I was hoping to have a marathon of all the shows that are performing at state.

Calallen has been consistent with making it to state finals in 2020-2024 as well as championing at the Area E marching contest , and Davenport is a fairly new school who’s made it to state finals after conception and is also the current champions of area e. Both place in the range of 8-5 place at state finals. Compared to the other bands, I think they’re going to be in about the same range

i searched up davenport highschool marching band 2024 into YouTube and it came up as the first option (ps is there a lack of uploads for 4a marching shows this year because of confidentiality or is it because of stricter copyright regulations? I can’t find a lot of band shows.)

Calallen's show was really good, and their players are incredibly talented, but I think compared to how competitive 4a is this year (especially with the finalists from areas c and b), them getting 1st at state is stretched

does anyone know the max sizes of bands for 4a marching bands?

This years season is incredibly competitive as the 4A marching bands evolve, to the point it’s climbing up close to how competitive 5a is. I’m particularly excited for who top three is. My predictions are Davenport, Calallen, and Grulla as top three in no order for sure. I haven’t been able to find a video of Calallens show, but based off of previous years, they’re definitely gonna push hard to reclaim their spot as area champions. Good luck on Saturday bands!

I’m surprised that Calallen made it third in their area this year. for the last two years, they’ve gotten first. Both Davenport and Grulla were close calls last year but this year they beat them by a ton. Davenports a fairly new school so it’s interesting that they were able to pass the two bands, and Grulla has been showing lots of improvement from how they did at prelims last year. Excited to see how the three bands play out at state!
