My predictions for finals:
1. Aledo -No doubt, they are one of the best 5A bands in this metroplex and are a few members away from being a 6A.
2. Burleson Centennial -I feel like they have been consistent in this area for years now and I don't believe they can fall off this year, especially with their outstanding percussion.
3. Colleyville Heritage -Their show this year is much better and more entertaining than last year's, I could see them make state this year for sure. Their color guard would win the guard caption if UIL Area gave out captions.
4. Birdville -They got 4th both in prelims and finals last year; they have been very consistent and their show this year is spectacular. They also defeated Fossil Ridge at Don Hanna by a safe margin; I also see them possibly switching rankings with Richland: they are neck and neck.
5. Richland -Their show is pretty solid and incredible, and they have scored consistently well in all of their competitions so far; I could definitely see them make state like last year. I do have to admit, they will be neck and neck with Birdville for sure.
6. Midlothian -Their show has gained a reputation this year, and I feel like they 100% could make state; I don't deny their capability.
7. Fossil Ridge -Recently moved down from 6a, and their show is pretty solid but not spectacular enough to beat these other bands; additionally, they scored lower than all top 4 bands in recent competitions.
8. Grapevine -Although an entertaining show, I don't think they can make state despite their sweepstakes at BOA Waco 2A awards simply because of their past results and size. I could see them make state if they have a really solid run.
9. Azle -I have to admit, I have not seen their show so I am assuming for this one based on past UIL Area rankings.
10. Chisholm Trail -They did well at Birdville Marching Festival and they could make area finals but I don't see them making state.
Good luck to all those performing this Saturday.
