Hey i just want to appologize if ive offended any one. I got a little carried away in the thread and i really shouldnt have taken it where i did. -
QUOTE (CPFrntEns @ Oct 9 2008, 10:55 PM) Agreed. Also, does anyone know where I could find a video of SCV '98? I think that's what our opener is based on. If I'm right, then I've heard that show was pretty good as well. I have a Fan Network account i can show you the show at the school some time. its a pretty good show.

well based on the fact that we (cp) placed so close to marcus in arlington im betting ld will win it. And i just want to clarify something, i said this whole thing about a state read, i just ment we'll get to see all the bands together and really close to state so we'll have a good idea of how their going to perform. (yeah i know uil and boa are like apples and oranges). but we can get a good read on the music caption here since its not that much diff. -
Hey tickles, you thinking bout trying out for the cavies? So does that mean... And no love for spartacus i thought that was the most theatrical dci perf. ever

Really? i havent noticed it being too big an issue (but lets not bother with that). haha thanks. Finals felt amazing, easily the best performance CP's put on in a very long time. I think they threatened to deduct points 3 times for being too loud when we were celebrating. BTW i've been wanting to see your show (I didnt really get to see it at lisd band night) when are you guy's rehersals, i wanna try and come out some time to see. -

I'm really excited for this contest. It'll give a good read for how state is going to turn out. -

It really has changed. The leadership team has tried to stop that early with the freshman and soph. and it seems to have worked. As far as not winning, yeah porb the most bitter and effective medicine for cockiness. props to all the bands last night, that was a very solid regional. i havent noticed finals results so ill post em 1. 82.55 Marcus 2. 81.75 Cedar Park 3. 79.90 Hebron 4. 76.75 Berkner 5. 73.65 Mansfield 6. 73.25 Coppell 7. 72.65 Connally 8. 70.20 Legacy 9. 67.90 Martin 10. 67.85 Aledo Very excited to see such a slim margin between Marcus and CP and well as the slightly larger margin for third. This is Deff. something we will be building off of. Yet again congratz everyone! -
could anyone tell what was going on in the cavies block during the 2nd place announcement, was that them celebrating? i cant tell from the video

First Impressions
TRUMPet replied to actualgirltrombone's topic in Everything Music: Marching, Concert, Auditions and more
i agree but often their there bc their parents wont let them quit. i have to say from out side the block our band already has a good feel to it as far as unison movement goes.... all of our protocol changes will help too. (and the crazy stuborn leaders that wont let you mess up on the 2nd day of camp deff help ) *edit as well as blasting as lound as we can every day.... if you thought CP '06 was loud this year should make that seem quiet ) -
I played clarinet first.... its actually easier if your in the same key, no offense but mouth position is really a lame excuse not to learn a brass instrument.
-
Just to make things clear... its the fact that a CORPS is using stuff from highschool shows, i call that copying. Corps shouldnt be inspired by HS bands unless its inspiring them to never suck that much (dont deny it al HS bands suck in comparison). Sweet where at? True as it should be... just not the other way around. (BTW The Cadets should really tell us if they got the idea from CP...which ill give you this much, it came from Chreste a Corps guy... i'd just love it to find out if our show inspired a world class corps.)
-
btw, i think its already been said but it can be said again... woodwinds are just too quiet
-
Learn a brass instrument its not too hard to do.
-
i know i just think bobs cool so i thought id throw his name in too. nothing wrong with that, just givin props
-
Dont forget Bob Chreste (Chesters!!! *Dont ask) Vanguard brass caption head, music arranger for Lake Travis High (?), and Vista Ridge, Associate Director at Cedar Park.
-
thats what drum corps are for (any "pro level sport really") go ask any five year old who their favirote sport star is and ask em stuff about what then do and lo-and-behold they start jumpng arround pretending to be them. its supposed to happen that way. its the stuff going in reverse that were talking about. you dont see A-rod out there trying to be like a 5-yr old tee-ball team. (although id love to see that)
-
oh i forgot BD i like their show but even with the poem and seeing it 20 times i dont see the concept displayed in the performance.... Still an amazing show though/
-
I agree. Its sad watching that show "sink" with such potential.... btw did anyone catch the extream explosion in visual in Atlanta. It was very disapointing As for crown their show is really growing on me. Their really starting to show they diserve a top spot. And thoses cadets.... *grumble grumble* i really wish they had left out the smiley face.... just too much for me. first the talking, then show concept, now this. just shoot me....
-
I agree that they cant technically steal a visual but realy IN pursuit of happiness, The pursuit of happiness.... way too similar
-
from what i heard from particular unnamed inside sources.... they just werent there apparently "This *mimicks marching with figers*, isnt working with this *mimiks playing horn*." but that could just be an attempt to keep the corps from falling into a "well we just got screwed and itll (aka the judges) get better" attitude/rut. As for the cadets (although im very bias against them) didnt seem there that much. they usually have good impacts that make the show okay to watch that just wasnt as good, but tell you the truth I (note: opinion) fell they havent shown me anything that has deserved a top 5 spot as of yet. And was anyone else jealous of the 6(?) trumpets at the begining of the PR show that play that little"herald" (idk what to call it) lick

Aw scv 7th i had high hopes that their closer would take off
