I have to say i disagree with you for the first time here. I agree that their balance can suck, and so can their sound, but for the most part they sound reasonably good a lot of the time (now weither or not they deserve such high ratings, Meh), But then it may just be that i have a soft spot for any one willing to play that loud.
-
even if they dont allow pre recorded music i still think it should be out. it's an opinion you dont have to agree with it
-
i think this topic new has a new life..... New director, that's pretty dang big coupled with lost members
-
i don't think i'm being clear enough... I dont mind syntesisers as in keyboards that a person plays in the pit, its artifical sounds and prerecorded music that i disagree with. All of which fall under electronics. I actually think that synths can be increadible, my freshman year we had a synth semi-solo where it took the place of bells/chimes, or something. All this to say the rule needs to be more specific.
-
I understand what a synthesizer is... I happen to be sitting next to one. And I do see your point as far as electronic keyboards, but this rule doesn't see to be specific enough. This may just be because it

What i mean by eaiser is that the corp doesn't have to find new inventive ways to make an idea work... they just download it... lame
-
I also thought i'd bring it to everyones attention that despite everyone saying they can't stand us and were ego maniacs (although probably true... after all we are the best), acording to that instrument game people don't really hate us... i think were the only section that has not moved... Period.

I just wanna make sure that i got this right. does double mean double above the staff or like in g the one just on top of the staff Oh and i wanted to ask about a, well "injury" for some reason when i play now, my neck about 2ish inches off my wind pipe hurts like crazy. Almost like somethings gonna explode. I thought it was just being tense but my necks relaxed. I think it has something to do with expanding my windpipe when i play. Any one has a clue what it is or preferably a remedy?

Marching is Sport?
TRUMPet replied to SCV_Contra's topic in Everything Music: Marching, Concert, Auditions and more
QUOTE(crazyjakeup @ Jan 7 2008, 11:48 AM) in fact i was going to tryout... untill i found out that i would be without a cell phone through the duration of the tour... I think its people who like you who cause them to make that rule. Imagine this senario with bob..... walking back from...lets say, the dumpsters or something... on his way to the busses bob gets a call. He decides to answer his phone and stay where he is because that is the only place he gets reception. the call goes on 5-10 min while everyone loads up on the bus. once everyone is ready to go theyy realise that bob is not there. Where is bob? bob is now busy replying to the texts he just got now that he has a signal. meanwhile the staff is running around trying to figure out how they lost a member.... see isn't the corp better w/o the phone. Btw copies of this lovely story will be avaliable within the month on amazon. -
i cant resist i love critiquing the system so here it is General Effect Double Panel: For quite honestly this is quite fair, it prevents that "oh, we got beaten by THE judge" Age Requirements for 2009 implementation: I'm not too sure how i feel but as far as 23 being too old, 23 isn't too diffrent than 22 (although i personly havent experienced it) Use of Water and other water based products: Not in my life time any chance of of the field being altered for the next corp is out of the question Additional time for shows: Meh Its nice but it really depends on how much... beware the overkill Amplification for Brass: May I quote actualgirltrombone Use of Electronics: Against it just takes out all the challenge, people just need to be creative Eliminate Percussion 2 judge: as a brass player i'll leave this to the percussionist Sound Board controlled by corps members only: Against forcing someone to stand there and deal with the stupid thing is cruel, but heck if they voluenteer why not. Prohibit use of amplified voice, breathing, effects, and etc: i'd accept it only for breathing just because thats pretty dang hard to recreate. Ban all use of amplification: sure i really don't care to allow something like breathing amp. but otherwise i don't care for it

Might i also add winston churchill.

Marching is Sport?
TRUMPet replied to SCV_Contra's topic in Everything Music: Marching, Concert, Auditions and more
I have to say, having played baseball most my life. If you consider baseball a sport then marching is a sport ( it's way harder) . the only difference between them and us physicaly is their stronger... sometimes. but if you look at it from an art stand point, calling it a sport does degrade it to an extent. -
sorry, but im not all that up todate with the politics in drum corps... water rule?
-
I have to agree that this is how it's gonna fall, but i think its really unsable in the top six. They all have amazing potential to beat eachother out for top spots. it'll be a nice little dog fight for the top
-
I no its really early but just based on last year, show themes, and staffing changes, how does everyone think the year is going to play out?
-
True, I wonder though, how it would effect their future if they carried on the voice over theme. It seems like they're losing support (for the voice over) pretty fast... at least around here. Any chance that this might cause a down period as far as new members and such?
-
I know they arent goin anywhere, i didnt intend it to argue a falling out, kinda came across that way.... I just ment it to say they'll be at least top three next two years (prob top two this year), they'll deffinantly come back within the next three of four years and take first.
-
If ands and buts about the Cavies dying anytime soon IF... The cavies come out and crap all over the field... they might get 4th or 5th, then medal next year AND... If two other corps come out and just castrate every one... the cavies'll get third (*cough* 1989?), then clean up next year BUT... If everyone feilds a decent show the cavies'll be top three (most likely two), and there will be no doubt they still got it. Long term.... If you think the cavies will ever die... go take a shop class they'll teach you," a machine never dies, It just shudders till someone gives it a good kick."
-
Murderous rage is nice, but them stealing your show and failing to field it as well is 100x better... but if they load it down with voice overs and fail i think i just might lay down on my bed and die in shame

Hey all, Ive been trying to keep up with DCI This summer but i can't seem to find anything other than rewiews and scores. I really wanna be able to watch it but i cant spare the money for the season pass (parents won't pay this year *tear*). I've tried you tube but i can only find its and peices of shows (i assume that is cause of copyright or something), But is there any way to see the shows other than season pass and going to the competitions. Thanks

Yeah mine lets me put the file on my computer but itunes wont accept it because it was not "validly" exported.....I guess that might have to do with the media being down...i dunno computers and me arent on good terms
