Area C 3A also had 1st with Commerce High School being the "lucky" winner. Don't they random draw performance order for areas each year?

Just based on what they've done in some head-to-head matchups it's probably not in the cards this year.

Call me crazy but I think all 3 medalists at the SMC will be from Area C.

What a day it was! My wife and I finally had a free Saturday and chance to see everyone's show. I agree with everything you said. The top 3 bands have a razor thin margin of error as we saw prelims go from Atlanta, Redwater and Mineola to in finals Mineola, Redwater and Atlanta. The SMC is going to be exciting!

Area C AAAA will basically be a mini-SMC.

I would say it's the most traditional form of marching band. Contrary to what corps style bands do and are ever evolving, military bands strive to continue the military style. The non-band parents at football games who think marching bands only exist to serve the football team and think we only exist because of football are 100% incorrect. Marching band was birthed from the military, not as a form of halftime entertainment. Now, how it became a halftime performance I don't know.

Back when Cedar Park was in the old 5A they were probably the loudest HS marching band I had heard. When Scott Mason was still alive and at Coppell they put out an immense wave of sound, too.

I think it will be 6 this year. In 2021 it was 6. In 2023 it was 5.

Area C 3A has had a couple of changes since last year. UIL added Region 3 to the Area, Liberty-Eylau dropped from 4A, Paul Pewitt dropped to 2A, and Westwood (Palestine) petitioned to change regions, and essentially Area, and is now in Region 8. Area C is also known for having military style bands that choose to compete in a different class. Several of the 53 bands listed will not be in attendance at Area.
