  1. I would say, Redwater for the win. Mineola Silver Atlanta or Howe for Bronze
  2. Rain rain go away! I took off to go to this contest on Saturday!
  3. I have seen Mineola, Howe, and Whitesboro. I hear Redwater and Atlanta are amazing! I cannot wait for the livestream!
  4. Are you the Farmersville sax soloist?
  5. Farmersville would be my pick over North Lamar as well. (Mostly bc I love their sax soloist and if you couldn’t guess by my handle, I’m a sucker for a good sax player) I would be hesitant to say that it’s a lock that they beat NL. I originally thought Farmersville beat NL at Royce City. Apparently that’s not true. NL was right there with Farmersville with an incomplete show. the other reason I think it’s iffy that NL beats them is because I feel they are a bit inconsistent. But they sound better and there visual is better than Farmersville in my opinion. It’s going to come down to if they can get to the end of the show clean.
  6. Updated predictions based on draw order and latest info and rumors (just for fun don’t get upset I’m not trying to insult anyone or make all of you hard working people feel under valued) Celina: will win overall but come in 2nd after prelims because of draw order but I don’t think they lose after a finals run and they are the best. Sulphur Springs will win prelims. Great draw and a great show played and marched as good or better than anyone. They have experience under pressure. Farmersville will come in maybe 6 or 7 for prelims but will jump to 3rd during finals. This is just a gut feeling. Good show, I don’t think it has legs to beat out the 1st 2 but I think they are a lock for state. Band sound is good, but I don’t think the difficulty is as much as some claim. Except for the sax soloist. North Lamar is probably getting a high rank in prelims but could drop to 4 or 5 in finals unless they put all the pieces together. If that happens who knows. Van Alstyne is my dark horse. This is a very good show played very well. Maybe not as hard as some other shows but they sound and look great. I have them between 5 and 7 in both prelims and finals Canton I think has the hardest show. I don’t think it is as clean as they would like but if it’s close I think they will be, it’s going to be high up in prelims maybe 3-5 and drop to 5-7 in finals. I’m going out on a limb and saying Pleasant Grove gets the 7th and final state spot. I think they will get somewhere between 7 and 10 in prelims and rally for a great finals run. I really love there show and that brass sound carries them across the finish line. In the edge- Paris, Lumberton, Bridge City. All of them have been there and have great competitive bands
  7. It seems like that isnt rewarded at all. China spring would have won the state title last year if that’s the case.
  8. I kinda feel bad for them and Canton. There’s been so much negative on this thread like they are shadows of their former self’s. I didn’t get that impression from the videos that were shared and that I’ve seen. im routing for them and everyone else to have their best performances and I hope it’s a hard decision for the judges. I hope I can get to this contest and watch.
  9. Is NL stronger than last year? Weren’t they the area C winner and a state finalist last year? If that’s true then they could be real good this year. Last time I saw them there show was unfinished so it’s hard to say.
  10. So is my math right: If everyone in region 3 gets a 1 tomorrow then eight bands advance to state?
  11. lol some of you have real hate for Canton and NL. They are not shadows of their former self’s. Those are both really good bands who go to state all the time for a reason. The video of Lumberton was good sure but I don’t think it’s that good.
  12. Did NL have their whole show on?
  13. I’ve seen videos of everyone. The hard thing is that all these bands have grown so much. Im sticking with Celina as the number 1 spot. I’m going out on a limb and saying Farmersville number 2. I keep going back and forth on this one because I see more potential in other shows for development but they were better than North Lamar at Celina. I actually think Canton is going come up and grab number 3. They looked so good at Princeton. I bet the music has come a long ways since then Sulphur and North Lamar are hard for me to say which one is “better” SS should be cleaner but NL has a hard show that was incomplete at region a week ago. I don’t think either of them beats Farmersville or Celina. Maybe Canton but probably not. Van Alstyne is my 6 spot choice. Very good band with a solid show. I think PT is too far away to get in this mix. Maybe Paris, Lumberton, Bridge City.
  14. Who do you think has it then? Sulphur? Farmersville?
