At my school (3A with a move to 4A this year) we do stand tunes combined with the other team's band during halftime, and at the state game for football we do our marching show.

Yes, there are 5 state spots and 10 finalists, that prediction was written before region, so they were also trying to predict area finalists and state spots.

What happens if neither date works?

I checked UIL's website, here is what ot said (A) Should three or fewer 1A varsity bands in a region receive a division 1 rating, any conference 1A varsity band that has followed the procedures established by the Region Executive Committee to indicate to the Region Executive Secretary the intent to advance to state and that receives a Division 1 rating at the region contest shall be certified for advancement to the state contest. (B) Should four or more 1A varsity bands in a region receive a division 1 rating, all 1A varsity bands in the region receiving a division 1 rating shall be ranked using the procedures outlined on the UIL website and the three 1A varsity bands receiving the highest ranking shall be certified for advancement to the state contest. In Addition, one band for each two bands receiving a division 1 rating ranked below third place shall be certified for advancement to the state contest.

I think a band advances when they get a 1 unless there are more than 3 bands in one region that get a one, in which case only the top 3 (I don't know what process they use for ranking) advance.

Is there any way of knowing who is nonvarsity and/or finding past results?

Does anyone have a schedule of the region contests in this area?

Here are my predictions for Area 1. Panther Creek 2. China Spring 3. Aubrey 4. Alvarado 5. Gatesville 6. Krum 7. Brock 8. Kennedale 9. Springtown 10. Castleberry I feel pretty good about all of these placements except for Krum, who hasn't gone against any 4A bands this year. It's also increbly tight between Brock, Springtown, and Kennedale, and any of those three could be in any order.

Finals slots were random draw. Brock got 10th place overall

I made a copy of the spreadsheet they used for results, and in the column for the ordinal total they just left off one of the judges for all 12 bands. It was a typo with the formula, and I'm surprised there wasn't a way to check that the ordinal total added up to 390.

UIL has Terrell listed as a 5A and they were in the 5A class at Aubrey, so I don't think they dropped down

I recalculated scores with the judge that was left out, these were the results I got 1. West Mesquite 2. Farmersville 3. Kennedale 4. Alvarado 5. Terrell 6. Springtown 7. Brock 8. Williams 9. Sanger 10. Lake Dallas 11. Howe 12. Quitman

They didn't count one of the music judges scores for finals, 1-3 and 10-12 were unaffected, but no one from 4-9 stayed in the same place

I'm not 100% familiar with the scoring system, is there a reason the ordinal total in the spreadsheet isn't the same as adding up all placements in finals?
