Haha! IT IS COMPLETE!
mindfulmusician replied to Fortisimo's topic in Drill Writers, Arrangers, and Composers Corner
I liked the music in general, and, it was cool, since I've heard this piece at 3 different stages, to finally hear a finished product. What I would criticize you on is the fact that there wasn't a "ballad" of sorts...nothing that was too lyrical. Nothing that made the band sound "pretty." However, that's all I can think of to say at this moment. Perhaps I'll comment later if I can think of any other comments. - mm -
Looks like Manuel isn't as super or awesome as we thought he was! lol...just kidding. - mm

Other music writting software?
mindfulmusician replied to twizzlaar's topic in Drill Writers, Arrangers, and Composers Corner
Open the .exe file first, because that's the actual program. However, when you open it, it will only be a demo, meaning you can't save, or anything like that. HOWEVER, after you have FL Studio, you open the .reg file, and that will turn FL Studio into the full version. If you follow the instructions that Fortissimo gave me, it should work. If not, come back with your questions, and we should be able to work this out. Hope that helped! - mm -
Well, in college, things are a bit different. For example, you can't really exempt the class, unless you want to have a 15-30% chunk taken out of your grade, which is enough to fail you sometimes. So, yeah, you have to take the final for EACH class. This looks to be a fun week of finals for me! (note the EXTREME sarcasm). - mm

Happy birthday to all you glorious people, especially you three (Chickora, threevalvecircus and mbui). I know Chickora's b-day was a month ago, but better late than never, eh? So, yeah, I wish I had money to get y'all birthday presents, but, I am rather destitute at the moment...I hope y'all can forgive me. Anyway, have a great day! - mm

18 degrees (10 degrees wind chill) and clear in Walla Walla. Rather chilly, I admit, but, at least its not sleeting. Although, snow would be awesome. -
SWEET! I'm still sticking with my Ides of March prediction in 2010. I can't wait for that show that I'll be getting. If the show is popular enough, does that mean you will get royalties every time a school picks that show for their show? That would be awesome. I doubt you'd make LOTS of money, but it would be good cash to make on the side. - mm

Other music writting software?
mindfulmusician replied to twizzlaar's topic in Drill Writers, Arrangers, and Composers Corner
Omg, Fortissimo. Thank you SO MUCH for this software. The sound is AMAZING. However, I have run into a tiny problem. I am all set up, but I do not know how to write for more than one instrument. I mean, I can only use the piano roll for one instrument, and it is number one (which, by default, is the flute). I know how to change this to other instruments, but so far, I can ONLY write for one instrument (or group of instruments). Is there a way where you can have multiple piano rolls at once, or can you only work on one at a time? Also, is there any way where you can print a score of music using the traditional staff notation so that you can give it to an ensemble? I would greatly appreciate it if you could answer these questions. Thanks again for everything! - mm -

Other music writting software?
mindfulmusician replied to twizzlaar's topic in Drill Writers, Arrangers, and Composers Corner
Ouch...I do hope that you are referring to the SOUND quality of the music rather than the quality of the composition. Everyone's music from this site shows great promise, and I have enjoyed and learned much from all of it. If the attack is an attack on the composer, please stop, but if the attack is an attack on the software being used, then please, carry on. - mm -

Other music writting software?
mindfulmusician replied to twizzlaar's topic in Drill Writers, Arrangers, and Composers Corner
Ok...perhaps I'm technologically illiterate...well, I AM technologically illiterate and ignorant, but I've run into some problems along the way with this Edirol Orchestral stuff. So, I downloaded the 3 parts, but then I needed WinRar to extract the files, so I downloaded that. Then, I extracted the files, and then, I installed the program. But, the question is, now what? When I go to the program, almost all of the files are in some format that I can't open, and I'm just confused. I've had so much crap with all of these downloads that I almost feel like crying...but that might be a little baby-ish. I know I must sound like a broken record, but I would really like some help. Sorry for all the troubles. - mm -
Other music writting software?
mindfulmusician replied to twizzlaar's topic in Drill Writers, Arrangers, and Composers Corner
Ok, thanks Fortissimo...I have FL Studio Demo, but how do I get Edirol Orchestral VSTi plugin? Because, from what I see on FL Studio Demo, it seems like more of a techno music composing software, which isn't really what I need. I assume that the Edirol Orchestral Plugin is where you do most of the composing? Or, am I missing something on the FL Studio? Am I looking at the wrong thing or something? Maybe you can help. Thanks again... - mm -

Other music writting software?
mindfulmusician replied to twizzlaar's topic in Drill Writers, Arrangers, and Composers Corner
Could you be more specific than that, because I searched for music software, and I thought I had found Finale, when instead, I had found AND DOWNLOADED a virus. Luckily, my anti-virus software detected and erased it, but I might not be so lucky next time. Anyway, do you think you could do us a favor and give us the exact post where it is? Also, do you think you could give some instructions, because it just has websites listed under "Code," and that is a bit confusing. - mm -
lol...well, if he's extremely pompous, I would probably join you...but that's another story. Yeah, a Bach action figure...SO AWESOME! It's pretty hilarious. Hey, what's your opinion on Higginbotham, Saucedo, or Whitacre (I know he's not a marching band composer, but many of his works are integrated into shows - Water Train, Noisy Wheels of Joy, i thank You God for This Most Amazing Day, etc)? Also, did you teach yourself everything you know about music theory, or do you have a friend/family member who knows much about music? And, is there anyway that you could help me and twizzlaar out in obtaining some music notation software? I mean, I think we could REALLY benefit from better software than Finale NotePad. Anyway, where does Key Poulan live anyway? lol... - mm
