  1. ha. Heroes was actually pretty fun to do despite the complications. my school's wind ensemble (Samuel Clemens) is playing: noisy wheels of joy - eric whitacre. early light - carolyn bremer. the crosley march - henry fillmore (edited by robert e. foster). and...this year we actually have our own group ensembles...so the woodwind ensemble is Sarabande and Gigue by Corelli.
  2. haha..i remember that. too bad i actually missed you fall and only saw the blood part as you were sitting down in the next runthrough...loser. but...i've only fallen once during a performance. how fun that was. It was...homecoming of...'04 and luckily, we performed AFTER the game so not as many people saw me as there could have been, though i did hear people say, "oh that was you?!" when i mentioned it the following monday. but, what happened was it was at the very end of our show where the flutes and clarinets were in a spiral and thats right when it sped up...many of the people around me weren't comfortable with the speed so someone behind me was rushing and the person in front of me wasn't going fast enough, so...the person behind me ending up stepping on my shoe and i ended up tripping and falling. all i remember was grabbing my instrument (because it ended up falling in the middle part), picking up my flip folder and stuffing it under my arm and getting back into my spot before the show was finished...but everyone else says i rolled on the ground to my spot and was back before they could blink. all i remember is what i said, and..i only missed 4 steps. ah...but that was funny...a lot of people from then said if anything bad happened during a show, to make sure it happened around either me or my sister (cuz she also slyly picked up half a clarinet and handed it back to the owner at UIL '03 without anyone noticing because of the visual). i also remember another clarinet in my band falling at BOA Huntsville '04. We were all going back, and, i'm not sure how she fell, but i felt so bad because i didn't see her, but i ended up stepping right on her. that must've hurt because she had about 3 more people to step on her.
  3. ...i'm so jealous. i wish my director would even think to play stuff like that...the only time we really have so far was with Heroes lost and fallen...it was at least ...good. but that was last year.. we're still working with Playoff stuff since thats in less than two days, we'll see after the first game. we've been working with district music and christmas music for awhile now though. The only thing i can remember that we're playing so far now is Sleigh Ride...which is just fun to play. i wish i could remember the other two though they aren't worthy.
  4. fun? whats this word related with band? ...i miss those days where fun was actually related with band!! haha, just kidding. before band camp even started, us officers of the band had a meeting with the directors and ...we were rather surprised when our assistant director suggested a lock-in..we loved the idea...but, we have no idea what happened to that either. we used to also have bowling on the sundays where we didn't have school the following monday, but...i believe Steele does that now (at least...thats what the sign on the door said one time when i dropped my sister off). so...a lot of our fun FUN went away. but we have fun in our ways...: - making fun of our directors...especially the things he says to me are always put in the most...perverted ways for some reason. - on the buses, b/c we have our crazy drum major and a couple of (as they said once) "token black guys", they sing any thing they want....do "peanut butter jelly time" in the middle of the bus or in the band hall. - and...i really can't think of anything else right now...surprising. ooh...i should suggest ice skating to the directors for next semester. haha.
  5. haha...yeah...she said it to 3rd band when i was in there (though apparently i shouldn't have been. oh well, favorites...you know that). it was hilarious though. i remember that one.. i can't think of any more snyder/petrisky-isms!! ...there have been a ton!! most of all "p-dawg" oooh...here's one!! "if i want your opinion, i'll give it to you!" why do we enjoy the most stupid things our directors say?
  6. hahaha. aww..i couldn't remember the one about the MACK TRUCK...well, i could, just not the exact words...aah...i remember those days. lol. "BUBBLEGUM BUBBLEGUM BUBBLEGUM!!" but...the apple pie one is new to me. ooh..another..."tator tot! tator tot! tator tot!!" haha..the best part of concert band that last year she was here was making tally marks whenever she mentioned food....i don't remember the number the one day.. but..."this is supposed to sound smooth, like...a hot fresh slice of pizza sliding down your throat." ooh..that one was priceless...
  7. paranoid doesn't even begin to describe him!! but...that one is on a basis of what i was gonna mention about him . some more of that baby director (to marching band, not baby literally)... and just others - - "this time we're going to continue!" - "perform like its a performance!" -...can't even get his words right half the time.. - "practice like it's a performance!" -that's the right one!! lol. still hardly ever happens...unless we have our old band director there with us at practice b/c the underclassmen get scared of him and us olderclassmen know how to do things with him. lol. - "sit in the shade during breaks." - contrasting with the followed, "don't sit on the ground!" when he does see someone sitting. - "sit when you're set!" "don't sit on the ground during practice!" - "when you waste 10 minutes of morning rehearsal every morning, you end up wasting over an hour by the end of the week! With that we have more than enough time with the 8 hour rule! You don
  8. ha...my school got kicked down to 4A this year thanks to the split to Byron Steele last year...so...we've basically had easy games so we're 9-1 and 7-0 in district...sealed playoffs by our 9th game. hopefully we'll make it a little further than the 1st playoff game unlike last year, but we'll see!! i'm still excited.
