Meh. I feel like this has been done before. Someone in 4a played several of those songs including the doxology a few years ago (maybe celina or Melissa…or Anna? One of those schools in that cluster) and i saw at least two shows last year with this theme. hopefully they can make it really cool and unique!

I’m not as positive about Pine Tree. I think the 5A competition at this contest is nothing like the 4A. I would love to see Canton back. Last year was such a blow to that program.

When they were 4a. Were they not in area b then? With all the area realignments I cannot keep who’s where straight. I love that band and would like to see them reach the same level of success in 5A as they had in 4a.

I’m ready for Argyle’s domination of this area to return. I think it will be soon!

The music judging at the contest last year was wacky! Very inconsistent! arguably the visual judges were too. The 1-7 split for N Mesquite was bizarre.

Rooting for Mineola for 3a -
The stadium is definitely not a great venue for this contest by any stretch of the imagination. The region 25 move really sucked for those schools. Their travel time was more than doubled for most. The Denton stadium is definitely a better location. I live on the prosper/frisco line right down the road from Panther Creek. Panther Creek can be at the Denton venue in under 30 minutes. Celina and VA are right up the toll road and they had to go over two hours in the other direction. I understand that the boundary had to be drawn somewhere but this was silly.

UIL 4A State Marching Contest 2025 (Nov 5)
GarbagePatchKid replied to cheeto2401's topic in UIL: Upcoming Contests
I don’t believe that is accurate. There’s currently a massive expansion of the existing high school. I was at the UIL competition they hosted and it was a mess at the back of the school. My understanding is they want to stay a one HS town for as long as possible. Frisco is opening up smaller high schools moving forward so there might be additional 4a frisco schools in the future. We will also at some point have another argyle school, but I believe they are starting as a 3a. -
UIL 4A State Marching Contest 2025 (Nov 5)
GarbagePatchKid replied to cheeto2401's topic in UIL: Upcoming Contests
I believe PC now has all four grades but I could be wrong. If not this year, def next year I found a news article that quoted Celina at 1336 for the 24-25 school year. I could not find a recent count for PC. I saw a post on here a while back that said the Celina middle school ( I believe there is only one) has over 500 kids in the band. With that type of growth coming up, I think celina will definitely move up unless UIL significantly changes the numbers. I thought I read somewhere that PC has lower numbers than celina but I don’t know where I found that. im also wondering about Davenport. Their band certainly was big. -
UIL 4A State Marching Contest 2025 (Nov 5)

To everyone in 4a’s delight, Celina and Panther will both be 5A after this next cycle. There will likely be others but I know those two are likely already over the threshold. -
UIL 4A Area C 2024

Holy crap pleasant grove! I knew they had a good run but I had no idea they would be over Farmersville. I knew their prelims run was clean but I did not expect that. I was so happy for the PC kids (but I know the Farmersville kids wee disappointed )☹️ I watched Gatesville’s prelims run and knew something special was happening. The balance, the theme, the music. It was so good! I was over the moon for the area b bands! -
I always appreciate your insight @J-Mike16. You often give your personal opinion of bands and although I rarely agree with you on your rankings (haha), you always find multiple positive things to say about each band you see. You never get involved with the pettiness that occasionally erupts on this page like some of the other regulars do. Thank you for your insight and the respect you show all the Texas Bands.

So, I’ve lived in Collin County my entire life (‘McKinney high, class of 1972)!. I know some of the rapidly expanding districts in this area are experiencing budget shortfalls due to property taxes not catching up with expenses and the state’s Robin Hood program where tax revenue is recaptured. Prosper had a huge shortfall, I’m surprised they didn’t have to have massive layoffs. I live right on the prosper/fridco line pretty close to Panther creek actually. I looked it up, sure enough, Celina had a big budget shortfall this year due to the issues above and even had to have a proposition this year to balance the budget. There’s a sulphur springs parent on Facebook making a fool of herself on the uil page saying money buys medals. Guys, y’all need to stop this talk. If this were true, Frisco ISD schools would win every year with their close to billion dollar budget. North Lamar also had to pass a budget shortfall. They’ve had major financial issues for decades and yet they have multiple state titles. This argument is ridiculous and you need to move on. https://communityimpact.com/dallas-fort-worth/prosper-celina/education/2024/06/26/celina-isd-officials-to-use-fund-balance-in-8782m-budget-for-fy-2024-25/ https://easttexasradio.com/north-lamar-isd-approves-budget-2/ https://communityimpact.com/dallas-fort-worth/prosper-celina/education/2024/07/05/icymi-prosper-isd-officials-project-203m-budget-shortfall-and-5-more-education-updates/

It’s basically difficulty of the show as a whole. Dude I’m here to celebrate everyone! I’m sorry you are so upset. Every band should be proud of their accomplishments. So many bands this year qualified for the competition for the first time, made finals for the first time, and maybe medaled for the first time (Davenport?). I’m thrilled for everyone.
