https://www.uiltexas.org/music/marching-band/marching-band-scoring-and-advancement-procedure In the section titled “Advancement from Area Contest to State Contest” here is the excerpt- “3. In addition, in area contests advancing two bands, any band that receives a ranking of two or higher from at least two of the music judges and one of the visual judges shall also advance to the state contest. In contests advancing three or more bands, any band that receives a ranking of three or higher from at least two of the music judges and one of the visual judges shall also advance to the state contest.” -

I think it makes perfect sense. This activity is subjective and if half of the judges decide a band is at a high enough caliber to be a state marching band, there should be no circumstance where they don't advance. -

I do think the top 6 of this competition were correctly placed in finals but it's sad to see huge disparities from prelims to finals. It just makes you think what other bands would have made finals if there weren't these judging issues. -

I second this, as I was leaving the DM retreat after finals I walked by the McKinney North band near their truck. They were being very loud and celebrating all the while Lebanon Trail band members were crying and packing up their truck to go home right next to them. As someone whos band was not called to be in that top 4, it feels real bad and I can only imagine what it was like for a band that regularly makes it. I wish the MN Band Leadership could have shown some humility in that moment and consoled the Lebanon Trail members instead of celebrating in front of everyone else whos seasons just ended. -

Pretty solid list except I think Emerson and Frisco are a bit out of place, I don't see McKinney North up here either and I expect to see them in the top 6. Anything can happen ig. -

Only 4 bands in this area will go to state. One for every five bands competing. -

Anyone else getting tired of people making predictions without even seeing the show they're predicting for? I'm seeing it a lot on this thread and am just confused as to why people think it's gonna be a worthwhile prediction if they're just basing it off of previous years.
