They went home early because it was about a 3 hour trip and they wanted to be back for their football game from what I had heard.

I am all about the underdogs, as our school is a perpetual underdog. That being said, I am rooting for our neighboring school Aubrey!!

It seems many people feel like several good bands got robbed during area comp in several areas...but, it is what it is.

Honestly though, it doesn't seem to much different from military marching to me. It's sad that shows that are just as technically clean and musically great but have more of a DCI feel don't seem to get to move on. If UIL is going to be like that, then maybe they need a third category...1) Military Marching, 2) "Park & Bark" or Traditional UIL, 3) DCI/Lyrical Style - give those bands who go outside the box a chance to shine!!

Well, I definitely think Sanger should have been in finals, their show was great and they were strong musically and visually.

Sanger should have gone to the finals over a couple other IMO... They got hosed.

I feel like sometimes the judging is a bit biased and that there are definitely pre-determined favorites. And you can be a smaller budget band and advance - I've seen it and lived it. Personally, not to knock the more rigid shows, but I think the ones that are more DCI like are more demanding physically and UIL should rethink their stance on shows like that. Rigid does not mean better, cleaner, or more exceptional, and more lyrical and fluid does not mean less than, messier, or lacking.

It CAN be both, it's not an either or. Don't hose shows that are more "fun" when they may be every bit as musically and visually clean just because they aren't the typical rigid UIL shows, that does many amazing bands a disservice.

There were some that definitely deserved to move on to finals that didn't...

There were definitely bands in B that should have gone on to finals, that, in my opinion, were better. There were shows that moved on that, again to me, while visually and musically clean were just mid and boring. I want to see shows that have more of a DCI style in the finals, it is more visually dynamic and I think more of a fun experience to watch. West Mesquite's show this year is an example of that...

Did anyone see Sanger's, Aubrey's, and Krum's shows?

There are some shows from some of the favorited front runners that I feel like are technically clean and have good musicality, but I am a little underwhelmed and think the shows are just kind of meh, but not in a bad way. There are also shows that I feel are more exciting and dynamic that seem to be a bit overlooked...

There just seems to be a lot of chatter on another forum about Krum and Aubrey having amazing shows this year and moving on to finals and possibly going on to state this year.

With rain expected all day Saturday, I wonder if it will level the playing field among all the bands... I checked earlier, and it is pretty much a guaranteed 50%+ chance of rain during all performance times. Monday it shows a slight chance of rain.

At this point pretty much anyone not Celina, Panther Creek, Aubrey, China Spring, or Krum. Not knocking those bands, because I have seen some of their shows, and they are good, but there are a lot of good bands with a lot of talent that barely get any recognition.

Sanger just beat Parkway, Haughton, and Benton last Saturday at the Ark-La-Tex Regional last weekend and was named best Color Guard overall...

Sanger just took 2nd at the USBands Ark-La-Tex competition last Saturday in Bossier City, LA under less than optimal field conditions, having to perform on slick turf after a rain shower, so don't count them out!

It is a great show, AND that 2nd place finish was earned on rain soaked, slick turf, which caused a couple falls - pretty sure if Sanger had had dry field conditions like the 1st place band, they would have taken it.

What do you have against Brock & Sanger? I haven't seen Brock's show, but Sanger's is pretty good...

I disagree. Area B still has several amazing bands, they just don't necessarily have the financial backing that the ones who moved to Area C have, and have traditionally been overshadowed and overlooked in the past. Don't count Area B out...
