  1. Hanna’s show was really fun. The little low brass trombone thing at the beginning of Hanna’s show sounds STRONG, good for them. They seem to be backfield too! That bass trombone sounds amazing in the mix. Low brass, you all stepped up BIG TIME. Props to their section and director for that. I only saw like 3-4 mellophones on the field and they sounded like a full section, great work! That octopus attacking the ship was an amazing touch. Alexander’s mellophones stepped it up this year big time, they sound really nice and the sound is there. The trombone soloist was a fun touch, and I really loved the flute solos. The end was so heartwarming and I was HOOKED! Here’s to seeing what production will be put out next year, Alexander always puts out strong show design. Next year should be as good if not better for Area G bands!
  2. The show I liked the music from the most (arrangement wise) had to be the Edinburgh opener. I know Little Fugue is overplayed in the marching world, but the way they did it with the Saxaphone quartet and that big sudden hit was awesome. The only thing is I felt it was a little overconfident at some spots and they went past their best sounds at some point, but you could tell the amount of passion and energy the kids had while marching and playing that show. Really entertaining and a great production overall
  3. a lot of the music is not difficult at all, but there’s also to take into account, most of the playing is not being done while holding, there is a lot of playing while marching and doing visual work. also not to mention, the ending with the brass is extremely exposed and hard to pull off after marching that full movement before. there’s a lot more to it than just surface level. either way, this contest was packed with great bands, even non-finalists.
