  1. What a fun Area contest this one was! Lots of bands performed *very* well. The top few in finals were close, I thought. There were differences in how well several bands performed in Area prelims vs. finals, and then each of those compared to State performances (prelims\finals as well). Sometimes that's how it goes. Every performance is its own beast. Sometimes you knock the top out of it and sometimes you stumble. I think resilience is one of the great lessons we can learn from musical competition. I'm proud of all the Area F kids.
  2. I don't find it suspicious, but it's interesting. I guess it goes to show how much difference a different performance and different judge can make. I was surprised that the percussion were scored so low for prelims in comparison to their other rankings; I figured I must have missed a big hiccup. I'm not sure about the percussion, but the Aledo band as a whole had a significantly cleaner run in finals than in prelims. Overhearing discussion afterward, Aledo is THRILLED to have tied Wakeland. There has been some friendly rivalry there, but Wakeland has historically come out on top.
  3. Thanks for sharing! Today was a blast. I didn't get to watch CP but the top 6 or so bands' scores seem to align with the consensus here and in my noggin. I'm curious about the scoring of Aledo's percussion (13th). I think their overall ranking is still about right, and I know scoring is subjective, but was there something big I missed?
