  1. Bahaha... I did the shirts this year. They're a ply on the Guitar Hero logo... Y'know... "Flute Hero." They're lime green.
  2. (Sorry about bringing up the show shirt design earlier in this thread... I don't do too much thread-surfing, so I guess I missed it in the ToC thread.) And although this year Hebron has fewer than 100 sets, most of them are 8-16 count sets, with a few random 15/20/22 count sets sprinkled in. Whereas last year, when we had 130-ish sets and about 15 or 20 in a row were 4 count sets. AND, yes, the "body movement tradition" is here to stay! Our new choreography in the ballad is guarenteed to creep out the band universe, in a good way. One tradition that didn't carry on to this year though is the oh-so-mysterious "hidden H set." We don't have an H anywhere as far as I know. But I think we might add in the classic "end-of-the-ballad-rediculous-wave-movement-visual-from-one-end-of-the-field-to-the-other" set. Lol!
  3. I post on and off on these forums.... Maybe a couple of times every marching season. But as far as trying out on piccolo... I feel like it's kind of like cheating. It's easy to make it on piccolo if you have a nice tone. I've been playing picc for three years and would never think of trying for state on it. Or at least if I did, I wouldn't brag too much about it. I would feel so much more accomplished making it on flute. There are sooo many AMAZING picc players that don't audition on it because they want to go up against "real competition," so those who make it on picc aren't necessarily the best players in the state. I go to Hebron, and therefore I go up against Marcus, Flower Mound, and other phenomenal flute/picc schools, and this is my senior year. If I wanted a guarenteed state chair, I would do it on picc... But I'm going to step up to the plate like the last three years and do it on flute. By the way I (primarily) play picc in the GDYO Wind Symphony. I think that's good enough proof that I don't suck.
  4. True. But from a conceptual/marching/playing standpoint, we are stronger this year. As far as pleasing our nerdy audiences... Maybe we didn't go as far. (I will admit, I felt like a true nerd screaming "UP UP DOWN LEFT RIGHT UP DOWN" while performing in a marching show) Completely off topic, but why are Mansfield's show shirts modelled after the Kingdom Hearts logo when their show has NOTHING to do with the game?
  5. Bahaha!!! That's hilarious. But in all fairness, they don't blink very often. I wish I could see what they do during the show. We haven't watched film since they've been on the field with us. I feel them watching me though.
  6. The whole purpose of our eye props is to direct the attention to US in a slightly "tongue-in-cheek" manner. As far as the whole "YEAH GET UP IN YOUR FACE" aspect of our show this year... Just you wait. We have quite a few suprises up our sleeves. This year's show will definitely top all previous Hebron shows. (yes, even the "DDR show") Oh. And much to your chagrin, we will be adding SEVERAL more eyes. Sorry. Haha!
  7. Blue Shades is fabulous! I played it with the GDYO Wind Symphony on our trip to China. Best piece of the trip. It was amazing confusing all the Chinese people.
  8. I go to Hebron... We have a sax solo in both the opener AND closer, and a piccolo solo in the ballad (played by me).
  9. I'm 4th chair in the top band, but we get new chair results tomorrow. I was 2nd chair in the 3rd region band (i dunno maybe like 25th or higher overall) out of like 200 flutes in prelims. so.... yeah not band for a sophomore.
  10. My best memory was this past season, Area results after finals, to find out if we were going to state. Of course we did!! And there's even a video on YouTube of our reactions. It was amazing. I screamed so hard that I lost my voice. I had never felt such pure joy and love for my peers as I did that night. I wish we could've kicked more butt at state than we did. But I'm positive that we'll have our time in the spotlight. Eventually. I can't wait for these 2 seasons to come!!
  11. I'm not certain why someone would diss their own band's woodwinds, even if they happen to be a brass player. The reality is that our woodwind section is the best section of our band, and I'm not just saying that because I happen to be a flute/piccolo. We RARELY have a brass player go to state, and at least 90% of our all-state players have been woodwinds. So please think before you diss the HHS woodwinds again.
  12. Marcus had a great show. We support you guys all the way.
  13. Of course I'll say that I like Hebron's show the best. Gotta represent. But my next favorite is definitely Marcus.
