UIL 6A State Marching Contest 2025 (Nov 3-4)
OWB_Nation replied to cheeto2401's topic in UIL: Upcoming Contests
I wanna say Hebron will win, but I don't think they've been the same level of excellence like they were in 21-23. I could totally see FloMo, Vandy, or Vista take home the gold -

School Rivalries

This is more of a football battle, but I still wanna put Rockwall vs. Rockwall Heath -
I think the real difference about this year and 2021 is that FloMo has more momentum to build off of. Winning BOA SA against really good groups like Hebron and Vandy has proven that they are a force to be reckon with. Of course, anything can happen, but I have my hopes set high on FloMo to be knocking on Avon's door for the eagle.

I do wanna give my full thoughts from all the finalists from last year on how they did last year and what I think they should do moving forward. Keep in mind that these are NOT my predictions for next year, but instead in the same order of how results fell. Feel free to disagree with me but I'ma share my thoughts. 1. Sachse, the Area champ from last year. I'm not the only one to not see Sachse winning area this year, but it shows that anything could happen. I feel like what Sachse just needs to build a strong show like they did last year and keep up with what's happening around them. I know they are many peoples dark horse riding into the season, all they have to do in my opinion is not fall off (which I don't expect them to do) 2. Waxahachie, the silver medalist from last year. I didn't get to see Wax's full show last year, but when I heard them before going on to perform last year they did feel a little off. And then they went off to be one away from making state finals. Waxahachie has proven itself to be a powerhouse when it comes to band, and is definetly in the connversation for Area C champs. 3. Forney, the bronze medalist from last year. I think Forney just needs to utilize the fact that they are 6A. Obviously it was their first year being 6A and I don't think they looked as strong as they did the year prior. They're gonna be in contention to make state, but they really need to zone in on deep cleaning their show. Yes they are gonna be a band powerhouse, but I think they really need to focus on areas 6A bands deep clean on. 4. Duncanville, the fourth place medalist from last year. I really enjoyed Duncanville's show last year. It was fun with popular music and the sounded pretty good. Considering that last year was their first time in Area C I do think they played it a little safe. What Duncanville needs to do is to realize that they can't play it safe in an Area like this one. Having a fun and clean show is one thing, but having a great and clean show is something Duncanville needs to focus on if they wanna stay in the top 4 for Area. 5. Rockwall, the fifth place band from last year. Listen, yes I'm gonna be a little bit biased with my band, but I well and truly believe we had a shot at making state last year. That was hands down the best show in our bands history and we well and truly got robbed of making state because of UIL rules. What we need to do as a band is clean up our music areas now that we are doing harder and more challenging movement and really clean any small visual descreptances. I feel like we have a strong chance at making state we just have to make a show better than last year. 6. JJ Pearce, the sixth place band from last year. I think from last year it's pretty clear Pearce is good at one thing: Visuals. Pearce needs to really combine their visual talent with musical expertise and they got themselves a solid show. And yes, they did have a show last year that needed strong visuals, but I don't think they will drop just because their changing their show next year. 7. Berkner, the seventh place band from last year. I only got to see Berkner twice last season, but they looked pretty solid last time I saw them. Obviously, it's not easy going from a state qualifying band to becoming seventh at Area, but their not the only good band who did that least year (Refering to LD Bell) They just need to catch up with the rest of the people in this Area and show that they're still worthy of a top Area spot. 8. Lake Highlands, the eigth place band from last year. I didn't get to see their show this year but they looked pretty good. Overall they just need to get up with the other two Richardson schools sitting at sixth and seventh. 9. Richardson, the ninth place band from last year. They're also in the same situation with LA, but something I did enjoy when rewatching their show was they used the same opener as Rockwall 2022, just with different instruments. 10. Rockwall Heath, the tenth place band from last year. Our brother to the south, I was extremely happy for Rockwall Heath on making finals last year. They just need to keep building up their program and they could rise up the ranks. Some other honorable mentions that could make finals into the future are Royce City, North Forny, and Garland. But i'm excited to see what comes next for this area.

2025 BOA Prosper (Oct. 11)
OWB_Nation replied to LeanderMomma's topic in Non-UIL: Upcoming Contests, Events, and Festivals
This is gonna be a really competitive BOA Prosper next year, and I am all for it. It's not even summer and we have power houses like the Mckinneys, Wylie, Wakeland, Prosper, Coppell, and now SLC? Getting into finals is gonna be harder than ever now. Can't wait to see SLC next year -

I think D3 should be aired out a little bit. Feel free to disagree with me, but the way I see it only one more band should be added to qualify for state if one of the bands from the area makes state finals. That way they can add more available spots for bands compete for without letting some really good bands not have a good chance.

It really sucks when you have an Area with a lot of great bands and only 4 advance to state. Overall I’d agree that Wax will win this Area next year. Maybe the only reason they didn’t make first is because they didn’t wanna go first at state 😂 (only joking). I’d also say it’s pretty safe to say Sachse could comeback to state next year. I don’t think I’m the only one who didn’t expect Sachse winning last year. I feel like other than those two bands it really comes down to who can fight it out between Rockwall, Forney, and Duncanville. It’s also not crazy for me to say one of the Richardson schools could pull and upset and grab their ticket. I’m not fully saying my predictions after how disappointing last years ending for us went, but hopefully Rockwall can build an even better show! But we’ll see

I know regardless this is gonna be wrong but Ima take a shot at it. 1.Flower Mound, call me crazy, but I think Flomo can pull it off next year. Obviously Hebron will still be a huge thorn in their side but with enough horsepower and momentum from BOA San Antonio, I think it just might happen. 2. Hebron, ah yes your UIL State 1st place band. I don't think Hebron is still at the highest level anymore. Take it with a grain of salt but I don't think Hebron is the same as they once were. I feel like they peaked at Penstriped and are still going for that when other bands are finding different ways to get better. Hebron is powerful, but they aren't invunreable. 3. Marcus, A true top dog in the world of marching and a force to be reckon with. I could see them taking 2nd from Flomo or Hebron but the big question is: will Marcus have enough to pull off a first place win> 4. Prosper, coming back as your 11th grand national finalist this band is going places. If they keep it going, the next place they go could be the Alamo dome again. 5. Braswell, Honestly a band that gets looked down upon a lot. I was really sad for them when they came up one short (my band would join them soon after) but I think if the new rule passes Braswell will hope on a charter bus to San Antonio. 6. McKinney, This band has a TON of momentum and will be a dark horse for next year. I could see them doing very well and going many places in the future. I could see them even going and grabbing 5th 7. Wylie, I really don't know how I feel about Wylie. Obviously they are gonna be a band powerhouse, but I don't know how this band will do under new manegment. I still see them making finals but I think it might take some time for Wylie to regain momentum 8. McKinney Boyd, this is a band that can be either one of two things. I band who is good enough to just make finals or a band to surprise everyone and grap their ticket to state. This is probably the lowest I see them going but we'll see how this band will perform. 9. Wylie East, I feel like they are only this low because of new manegment 10. Maybe Rock Hill can comeback or the planos can sneak in but this is anybody's game I'm excited to see what comes from this area!!!

I think Rockwall will be there. It’s usually the one BOA we do. Plus we gotta defend our 12th place title 😂
