  1. heck yes, Eric Whitacre. All of his stuff is completely amazing, October probably being my favorite lyrical piece by him (I'm a euphonium player, and the solo is orgasmic), but Godzilla Eats Las Vegas is my favorite Whitacre piece. Ticheli's stuff is awesome, too, my favorite by him is his the 3rd movement of his 2nd symphony, Apollo Unleashed. Also, pretty much all drum corps stuff.
  2. And despite the fact he had a concussion a week earlier, he had his best game of the season thus far. While I'm not happy we lost, I'm happy the team finally came out and played football. Colt didn't lose it for us, that was Jamaal, fumbling on the 5 and dropping a pass on the 20. Both would have been touchdowns and given us the lead. Don't blame Colt, he played a good game. I know, I was there =)
  3. Yea, but don't feel too bad. UT last to KSU for the second year in a row last night... Worst performance I've seen in a looong time, Colt threw 4 interceptions, and they allowed touchdowns on a kickoff and punt return.
  4. Well currently our football team is 2-0. First game wasn't spectacular, though we still won. Last night, however was phenomenal, after the first half. This wasn't just for high school was it?
  5. Oh my goodness, I absolutely LOVE this piece. I had the privelege of playing it this past year, which also happened to be my last year in high school, and, along with having a phenomenal euphonium part, it is truly an amazing piece of music. Kudos to Camphouse on that one. Others that I like listening to.. lemme think: Godzilla Eats Las Vegas -- Whitacre I love this one, humorous, awesome, and unique. Ticheli's 2nd Symphony Namely the 3rd movement, but the other 2 movements are good, too. French horn rip at the end of the 3rd movement is the coolest thing ever. 1812 Overture -- Tchaikovsky Can't go wrong with Tchaikovsky, and the fact that it was used in V for Vendetta really made me happy. Night on Bald Mountain -- Mussorgsky One of my favorite pieces, it's a classic piece to be used in scary parts of films. I, along with many of you, I'm sure, was first introduced to it with Fantasia, and unfortunately, the scene it was incorporated with gave me nightmares at the time, but I've since gotten past that, and now I appreciate the piece for what it is: Brilliant! The Sorcerer's Apprentice -- Dukas Again, another one from Fantasia, probably more well known than Bald Mountain because the scene involved Mickey Mouse. That's all I can think of at the moment.
  6. SHANNON, WHY DIDN'T YOU ASK ME?!?!? I know better than most how all the gross crue jobs work, and the best methods. I'm surprised you didn't utilize my knowledge! EDIT: Also... speaking of grotesque and hilarious experiences in the attic... Yea, lots of year old, probably 3, 4, 10 year old water bottles up there, but I would have to say that the most fun (and I use that word EXCEEDINGLY loosely) would either have to be moving 30 or so 60 pound boxes of tiles across the attic, or moving those massive mats that the guard used like 15 years ago. I swear, those mats weigh at least 200 pounds. If you need any more "encouragement" for your new job, let me know =D Also, if there are any more work days, I have a lot of pent-up energy, so let me know, and I will gladly come up and help.
  7. Pfft, you all are lightweights. An oven? A sauna? BLOW DRYING CONTEST, WTBALLS?? My idea of a hot date would be to jump into the mouth of an active volcano, swim down to the core of the earth, and play lava polo.
  8. I'm going to the Longhorn Band Week a week before UT classes start to see if I have what it takes to get into the LHB, does that count?
  9. Excuse me, ma'am, but you said don't say "it" at all. I hope that you'll notice that I did not say "it" once in my previous post, and therefore, your arguement is void.
  10. 23rd is the last day, then graduation is the 24th. I are excited!!
  11. True that. Oh wait, I'm a senior in AP classes, I don't have any exams!
  12. Heh, I took AB Calc last year, got a 4 on it. Yesterday, I took AP Statistics, tomorrow English Literature, and next Thursday Macro Economics, then I'm done forever.
  13. We went to Disney World back in late February, and I've gotta say, those were the best 4 days of my life. The only bad thing about the trip was that ever since we got back home, I've been dying to get back to Florida.
  14. Yea, one of the judges wrote that the bass line was covered up the majority of the time. Woops, 25 trumpets+25 flutes vs. 3 euphoniums, 3 tubas, and like 4 or 5 trombones.
  15. The top 3 bands at Westwood got straight 1s, the bottom band got 2s on stage and 1s in sightreading. I think that's the best we've done as a school since I've been here.
