we did our first 13 sets-our opener, and it's nothing complicated, but if it isn't clean, then the effect is kind of ruined...and we had three people absent in my section so that ticked me off. And one of them will ask questions till next week *sigh* But if what was said today happens, I'll get to have lots of fun in the 5 sets that I don't move.

well, yeah for soloists. I also think that say the clarinets and flutes have a feature and the brass are playing as well (like in Ride by Samule Hazo), you could amplify a player or two to actually hear the part, but only for that section.

It's not a genius idea to sit there and amplify the best players and mixing their sounds. That's retarded, and your band won't get any better. That to me is cheating.

Band is one of those things that it is truly unique. One of my friends that quit band during summer was laughing at us, because "we didn't win". I then watched a football movie, and found a quote, "It doesn't matter whjat awesome saves you make, cool passes, or great runs. All that matters is winning", and then I said aloud, "That is the difference between marching band and any other competitive sport. There is only two competitors, rather than 50. And you don't have to like the people that made first; you can like the 35th place show." But band is also something that even though I enjoyed it to death, it isn't somthing I would repeat.

we don't tow cars. I think we should cover their car in shoepolish/paintpen if they don't leave by 350. I hate it when people leave TRASH on the field. Someone even had vomited on the parking lot.

I'm making a prediction that our drill will be a bunch of blocks. at least 2 pass throughs 2 block rotations. and a couple of parallelagram sets.

even then, that was a lot of Frank Ticheli music. I remeber hearing a lot more. I can't remeber who played it though. But I heard An American Elegy, Nitro, Vesivius, and Amazing Grace. It's just kind of weird hearing Drum corps play what I played when I was in 8th grade.

We're doing 120. 60 brass and 60 woodwinds.

I have to say, I have never heard so many ticheli pieces placed in one competiotn that quarterfinals. Geeeees

we don't start drill till next week. We have all of our music though. I need to work on memorizing the second movement.... it's one of the hardest pieces I've had to memorize.
