I see 2051 not 2015. Seems like they just don't want to reveal how old they are. Maybe you just miss read it. Don't worry. Happens to the best of us. -

Why be worried? Programs can't/shouldn't be dominating all the time. It takes the fun out of everything and frankly is demoralizing to all the other bands who dream to accomplish half the things LD Bell has. Is it fair? Nope, but there isn't a whole lot you can do. LD Bell has the system figured out and they are rolling with it. -

I don't see why more people don't. Maybe then people will start talking about lesser known programs versus talking LD Bell and Marcus to death. Sure it's early but I'm tired of this dynasty. Maybe everytime LD Bell or Marcus wins a baby penguin loses its mom. Food for thought. -

Awww. Come on takigan... Let the kid have some fun! -
Vandegrift actually has juniors not just sophomores and freshman. Also, they attended Arlington, won their class but did not make finals. So, this is not their first BOA technically.

I don't remember which state year (2006 maybe?)it was but Cedar Park went from winning Area D to placing in the bottom quarter at State. I think that was the first time they had ever not made finals at a contest as well. But don't quote me on that. -

I wish I was able to see this show live. I borrowed the VHS (yes VHS) from my bd my sophomore year to watch my high schools performance and came across PCEP and my jaw dropped. I even called my mom in to watch it. That show was so far ahead of its time. It would be winning BOAs even now. -

She is one of my favorite TA's! She is conducting a Ron Nelson piece for symphony band on our next concert. She is also the only TA who will lead the 34 piccolo strong sectionals. (no one ever wants to lead our sectionals. I wonder why..) -

I'm going to go ahead and close this thread because I think the point has been made. Don't fish for comments. It's bad forum etiquette and can be portrayed negatively on your program. Let this be a lesson to future posters on what not to do so we can avoid this situation. Continuous posts like this will result in Danpod's Sacrificing Pit being reopened and rumors are there has been some changes made and new torturing devices are waiting to be unleashed. I would be very cautious if I were you. Have a nice day. -

By frown upon "high school" marching style he means we make fun of Oklahoma because they look and march like a high school marching band. Texas doesn't try to pretend to be a "traditional" band. We are there to entertain the fans and pump up the football team. That's why we did a show where we formed a giant mario that proceeded to jump over fire balls. Best crowd response I have ever gotten while marching besides marching and playing Texas Fight in the Cotton Bowl and not being able to hear anything besides the sound of fans cheering along with us. Anywho. Back on topic. -

The better question is when does the band perform? There is no football team, so UTA Band holds sole rights to their field but with no team means no games and no fans. -

Fun fact: Paula Crider will be guest conducting The University of Texas at Austin Symphony Band on November 22 at 4:00p.m in Bates Recital Hall. She will be conducting Kentucky Harmony, a piece that was commissioned in honor of her, so if you are going to be in the area you should come to the concert for this unique opportunity. I thought I would share that with you guys. -

No, no it's cool. BOA has borrowed Hermoine's time turner thing so they can be at both contests at the same time. No worries. BOA is always on the ball.. -

Lonestar Preview 2009
treblemaker replied to Mad.Hatter's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
They both looked good at BOA Houston. I was pleasently surprised with how good Friendswood is this year. I am unfamiliar with their program but they are definitely going to look great at the end of the season. Brazoswood has made their mark these last couple of years and continue to progress well. I was disappointed with their placement at Houston but I'm sure they will pull it out for the end of the season.
