  1. Correct. They are not a marching band. They are an Outdoor Performing Ensemble.
  2. I feel like most of my post are justified. I'm sorry that you don't see that. And I'm sorry for making jokes? Excuse me for trying to keep it light...
  3. You keep arguing back so that means you are just as guilty.
  4. All I have to say to that is... 45-35
  5. Or maybe I just like picking fights. Sure some may be lost. I'm not denying that but you don't think new people would be interested with the addition of woodwinds? As a percussion player I would not expect you to know much about sound from wind players. Much like I know pretty much nothing about percussion. I know what sounds bad(mostly). But woodwinds add more than just an "ensemble flair". We add a certain color layer above the brass and also bring a lot of warmth when needed. Sound is more than just volume.. It's richness too. And I'm not saying brass aren't rich but woodwinds just add something to it and only make it that much better. Again if you had read the entire thread you would know that I am learning a brass instrument. Exactly what I am doing. I'll get myself into college and then pick it up again.
  6. I want to perform with one and compete against more. Starting over will just lead to dead ends.
  7. You are really talking in circles Adam and you aren't really making any justifiable argument. How can you argue that woodwinds wouldn't bring anything? I'm not delusional in thinking that we are ever going to be as loud as brass but we do add color. And can do somethings that brass can't do and the same goes for brass doing things woodwinds can't do. Do you continue rehearsal in heavy rain? Creating a new unit would not be the same thing. It's a transition that needs to happen. I'm not expecting anything to happen tomorrow. They will when I make my bell front flute! Jk...
  8. Just curious how often does it down pour during an event? (A serious question not a sarcastic one) Like Xenon said with more people comes more money. Also that would open up more sponsors that focus only on woodwind things. If you are going to reply I wish you would read all the way through because things like this are really annoying. Names can be changed. Ie. BOA=MFA And I do believe that there are more than bugles marching in modern day DCI....
  9. I may be stubborn but I'm also very selfless. If it happens after I am too old then so be it. But it least it is happening. And that's all that really matters to me. Never say never.. We've marched in the rain before. Sure you can endure more rain damage then we can but to an extent it damages your instruments too. It's not like woodwind players haven't been taking care of their instruments for only a day. We know what to do with them and how to take care of them just the same as you. It's not like we are going to go in and be like "Oh darn my spring popped out I guess I'm out for the season guys". Most good musicians can fix their own instruments. I know that I can fix almost anything on my flute minus when someone stomps on it and drags it on 5 yards of concrete because they weren't looking where they were running but that's another story. None of these issues you have brought up stops marching band from stopping so why would it ever hold up drum corps?
  10. I'm excited to go see my family down in San Antonio and stuffing my face with turkey goodness! They only time I can eat a whole bunch and not have to worry about moving afterwords! Oh and there's this kind of important game that's going to be on at 7:00pm that I will be watching and be dressed in head to toe burnt orange...
  11. HAHA. That's all I have to say about that.
  12. No. And you're not black either.
  13. Is anyone worried that the majority of the posts on this thread is coming from 2 boys in their 20's?
  14. OH Duh! How could I have not remembered that!
  15. You don't see that very often!
  16. Can we be nice?
  17. Yeah. I see it all the time..
  18. There are always going to be shows that are not going to sit well with someone. You really can't please everyone. My friend last year felt that Churchill's memorial show was an exploitation of soldiers rather than a tribute to a fallen band member. Is she entitled to feel that? Yes. I can see where she is coming from. How could you not feel affected by that show? I'm not trying to start any arguments with saying that I'm just trying to provide an example. There's always going to be someone who finds something "offensive" in a show that is successful. But remember... This is America and we are entitled to those rights. If the people of NAMI blame it on ignorance then what more is there to do? The season is over. What's done is done. People use the term "retarded" so loosely these days why doesn't anyone do anything about that? Isn't that just as insulting? Marching band is a form of expression and it shouldn't be subjected to such censorship. This is real life and everything isn't just hearts and flowers. If it starts with this, what's next? Everything has to be happy and no one can express anything the slightest bit controversial? Why don't we all just go out in all black uniforms and everyone can march the exact same show with a theme of all things happy that way no one can be offended by anything...
  19. Guess I should have figured as much. I'm not going to lie. I'm a bit of an arguer also.
  20. Well hate is a very strong word. And by your sarcastic remark does that mean I'm right and that you boys are going to play nice now?
  21. You hate me?? Why is that?
  22. I just love marching band that much. I didn't want to miss Bell's possible history making performance. I actually went up with my 3 best friends. We had so much fun. It's so worth the unexcused absences we are going to get.
  23. I was looking through the BOA GN Program book last night in my seat while waiting for Finals to start when I saw a particular picture that caught my eye. On page 61 is an ad for PASIC and in the top right is a photo of a percussionist playing on her keyboard. The uniform is what caught my attention first. It was a Georgetown uniform. Then I look closer at the picture and realized I recognized the person in the picture. I believe it's txbands.com's own urkadrums. So I thought all of you should know and here is a picture for her. :]
  24. You boys just need to calm down. You are all getting offended at things for no reason. Lets just be friends. :]
