that would be amazing, but unfortunately, thatd still keep back 3 bands. plus, thatd mean 25 out of 30 bands would have to make 1s this weekend. unprobable if u ask me -

Id wager money that Sherman will come out of Area B, thats how confident I am. I think they are the best in our area, hands down. -

thats a good guess. based off of last year, i think 19 of those bands got 1's. i just hope all the same bands get 1s and a couple others add themselves to the mix -

Yea. You added it up right. We only practice 7 and 1/2 hours. It kinda sux, but i guess we still do alright. lol, its better than two years ago, we used to practice 530-830 monday nights and then tues-thurs 700-800 AM!!!! thats only 6 hours, and since it was in the morning, it was really inefficient practice time. that really sucked -

I can't find the explanation that I read before, but I'll try and sum it up. General Effect takes into account the whole show. It takes into account difficulty and execution, the variety of styles and tempos in both music and marching, and how auxiliary parts of the show, such as the guard or body moves, fit in with the music. General effect looks at how the music and the marching fit together. For example, if you have a part of the music that is extremely flowing and beautiful, it would make sense to have a form with a lot of sharp corners or chaos going on. Another example could be if the music was very harsh and 'fiery' you wouldnt want the guard using peacefully blue flags. Contrary to what many believe, general effect is NOT how much a show pleases the crowd(though, shows with good general effect often do this), rather, it is the relevancy of visual and auditory aspects of the music, as well as difficulty and execution. If anyone has anything to add or disagree with, id love to hear it, cuz id love to learn more. -

Actually, all of judging is an opinion but, GE is only slightly more opinionated than the other categories. i found a really good explanation once. ill see if i can find it.
