  1. just wondering can someone explain how judging works at boa?
  2. does anyone know when we get full recaps?
  3. they might not win but i think they have a great chance to make the top 5, and possibly medal b/c i do agree with u wakeland likes to build the show around heavy GE, but i've been in their program and i know they'll be cleaning hard on drill and music.
  4. u do realize this is from last year right? Wakeland was at boa and sachse was definitely here this year
  5. yeah for wakeland i'm so proud of them, just 4 years ago they didnt even make 3A area, and now they fought with the heavyweight 5A bands, and to place in this contest is amazing. hopefully this possibly launches them to a possiblility of win 4A state this year
  6. Congrats to my old buds at wakelamd I'm so proud of them
  7. contest is based on size of ur band (winds only) i think. i know b/c i was at this contest the past two years
  8. can u send me the link of where u found this story?
  9. wait is birdville going to boa st. louis?
  10. u know this is also an early benchmark for the area b marching contest two weeks later. with legacy, newman smith, wakeland, and birdville all there
  11. until someone overtakes them i'm going with poteet or friendswood
  12. yeah i would like to say wakeland will be tier 4 or 5 but i also admit they have not really competed against the bands of this caliber, but i think they can finish in the top 15
  13. this year there better be 5 state spots in this area. I like Newman Smith, Wakeland, Aledo, Sherman, and Birdville in random order as my top 5
  14. what about wakeland i think any band that finished 2nd in honor band to friendswood has to be considered a threat to make state and possibly finals
  15. BOA Arlington Regionals performance schedule is on wakeland band's website should be lots of fun
  16. Just saw my old buddies show from wakeland really neat go check it out on youtube (whs band checkmate week 1).
  17. Wakeland Wind Symphony The Glory of the Yankee Navy (Sousa/Fennell) J.S. Dances (Grantham) Paris Sketches (Ellerby/Reynish) probably going to switch back to Symphonic Metamorphisis for recording for honor band
  18. that's really interested b/c we got puccini' music for our show two years ago, and now they were able to get this. That's really awesome, i love this piece it is so epic
  19. who knows, our director has amazing connections, but this show is going to be a lot of fun b/c we plan on having a sort of romeo and juliet kinda deal except with chess pieces
  20. and man i am pumped to see marcus and ld bell go head to head in Indy next year.
  21. hmm, i thought we were going to do BOA next year, but it looks like it won't happen. oh well better to focus on state marching contest anyways
  22. 2009 Wakeland high school marching show CHECKMATE
  23. We don't do much b/c we never have long trips , but a rule we have is we have to be absolutely silent whenever we are in a parking lot
  24. this is our 3rd year, and we got our first two. a sophomore oboe, and a junior trumpet who played with blue knights this year
  25. for us 3 piccolo 16 flutes 17 clarinets 7 altos 6 tenors 3 bass clarinets 12 trumpets 9 mellos 4 trombones 5 baritones 8 tubas 9 front ensemble 5 basses 3 snares 2 tenors 24 guard about 136 after adding 3 drum majors, right now we have a senior class of 11, and we'll gain like 70 or so for next year
