  1. OY... lol. Your issue about the trumpet section sounds a lot like how our trumpet section was a few years ago.
  2. yea one of the biggest things about getting people to follow you is to prove that you can do it yourself.
  3. Yea you are most definitely allowed to use synths.
  4. Well I think what you need to do first is understand how they'll respond. I have a little sister (haha funny analogy, I know) and she whines and cries all the time before dinner while my step mom is yelling at her. The cycle just keeps going and going and it never gets better. So ask yourself this, will discipline be the right choice? or will they just retaliate more? You need to find out a way to get to them, to gain their trust and respect so that they are willing to do whatever. I know its kind of vague advice, but my point is try to find something that works instead of doing the same thing over and over again.
  5. So I found this website. Its full of hilarious conversations overheard by certain people at NY. http://www.overheardinnewyork.com/pages/mostpopular.html I hope it brightens some of yalls day! Warning: There is some foul language. I hope this isn't against the rules...
  6. Hey my name is Alex! Very nice read. It's good to see our band (Centennial) being mentioned. ... but who uses "nigh" anymore? lol jk.
  7. Haha yea Imogen Heap and the Soulja Boi dance seem to be pretty hot stuff this year in 5a.
  8. I think one of our former (and very, very missed) member joined McNeil.
  9. It's out on demo!?!? O well... I don't have a guitar so it probably won't be as fun anyways.
  10. yea lewisville's was kind of random... kind of. It wasn't random in the sense of pairing the dance with the music, but the whole transition from Imogen Heap to drum machine music was pretty random.
  11. LOL During band camp we would do jumping jacks for about that long. Not because it was part of the schedule, but because people couldn't COUNT TO 25!#%(*@#@!!!
  12. haha we'll see. I'm pretty stoked about this weekend. Like I've been nervous during this week and the level of my nervousness is like that at other competitions. I have no idea how I'll feel down at the retreat at area.
  13. lol. I was confronted today by some flutes about yours or whoever's idea. I really didn't know what to say. On one hand I was like... "great idea!" On the other hand I realized your section makes up about 90% of "the infirmary".
  14. lol we have that one-lap-for-every-minute-late rule and it happened to be that one time last a year a guy was an hour late... He had to do all of them. He didn't do them all at once, but like 10-20 a day. I couldn't remember. Thankfully he was in athletics so he was ok doing it. I would like to know what this hindu thingy is too... would it happen to be yoga?
  15. I'm going to get it for sure. Probably sometime between end of marching season and xmas.
  16. IT WAS SO FREAKING WINDY!!! I almost fell off the podium! That was scary.
  17. I WANT A PARTY LIKE THAT!!!
  18. Haha put on some hardcore techno at 240 bpm... Or like get someone to turn off the lights, have the entire band take out their hidden glow sticks and start raving, have the colorguard twirl florescent poles, and have strobe lights and a fog machine by the pit! That would be cool. While we're at it we need a marcher (preferably a shadow) in a panda costume just busting out moves beside the pit. OH! OH! The drum majors could have like wired black lights and neon decked all over their uniforms so the band could see... lol. I got excited there.
  19. Once I was asked... "What kind of Asian?" and I responded... "The kind that makes good food!"
  20. CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES C'MON! Anyways. Wow, I got to see Marcus' and Hebron's shows tonight. I loved them. Both were very very entertaining. Marcus: This show definitely had last years kind of flavor in terms of carrying out the theme, but in the end, what definitely got to me the most was their sound. I mean like, isjwjfojaewfj, holy crap it was amazing. Usually I don't like sacrificing drill-level, which was still challenging and cleanly executed, for music, but their sound more than made up for it. Hebron: I will admit that I liked last year's theme and music a lot better, but boy was the drill fun to watch. They were constantly moving at fast tempos and executed them at a pretty high level...and then there's the soulja boi dance. Hahah pretty fun show overall! Also, I liked Flower Mound's show and concept as well. While it may not be at the level of top-tier 5A bands, it is definitely a fun show to watch. I don't think any HS has pulled off playing Queens as well as them (I don't know many bands that did). I liked the opening set where it was a bike and they started the show by rotating the tire parts of the set. Also, the colorguard design was creatively made. I'd hafta say, that out of all the scary moments a marcher must face by standing next to a colorguad, getting passed by a bike on the field has got to be one of the scariest.
