Westlake marching festival
Kelly11 replied to tigger2's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
They changed plans and will be attending the Fredricksburg Marching Festival on the same day. -
One of my Tenor's used a plastic reed, personally I dislike the sound, maybe it didn't go well with the player since he usually played Bari. I don't reccomend them, unless you get a good one. Call me old fashioned but I like the wood...

I don't think your age always correlates with maturity level. It just depends on the person, you see a lot of couples who had been dating since high school then they get married. Sometimes dating in high school isn't so pointless as people believe.
-
Don't do it, cause like most High School relationships you'll break up then it would just be wierd and uncomfortable and hostile. Then you could become section leader and they won't listen to you worth crap, then that just makes you more angry and hostile. I would suggest seperate section dating, if yall' broke up, yeah you would still see them but you can control it. Just my 2 cents.

Im trying to figure out what our head dm had, she needed the long white gloves (our dm's did tuxes and a evening gown) but they weren't cotton, u could hear her clap, I wanna say is a polyester glove. It's breathable fabric thats tight on your skin, so u could hear a clap better, I wish I knew what they were made of. You could get a little hat with hands and pull the cord to clap, problem solved!
-
Cotton would be more comfortable, if your really hot the leather will stick to you, and it'll feel nasty icky gross. It will be louder when u clap, just try the cotton, clap really hard. I think you should want to be comfortable...right?

Reflections on DCI San Antonio
Kelly11 replied to Dynasty's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Personally, I loved SCV's show, the whole concept, working it in with the drill and the music was wonderful. I don't know why they're still in the 82 range, the day show was better than the night one though, but in my opinion 82 is too low for that show. Phantom's was awesome, I wouldn't mind seeing them take it over the cavies. Cavilers were themselves, clean drill good sound...yeah thats about it. Cadets' show concept was cool, I tried to watch the band but it was so hard beacuse the colorguard was so awesome, I couldn't take my eyes off them. Music was good, I liked it. Blue Devils' show was very cool however I didn't find it as entertaining as Madison and Phantom. I was performed very well. SCV's show to me really isn't a drum corps show, I would expect to see it from a HS Marching Band (if they could pull it off), and thats my guess to why their doing so bad...I dunno... Overall, this was my first drum corps expierence and I loved it, yes the food service was horrible (just don't go to Denny's) but still it was a wonderful day and I had so much fun and was in awe of some of the stuff I saw on the field. Next time I'll just have to get better seats. -
Santa Clara Vanguard...my favorite year for them was 89'...Phantom of the Opera...mmmmm, it was good stuff.
