Ohh I'm not judging an entire band by one person...If someone just had our freshmen to judge our band on, I would be pretty embarassed. I just don't like the whole "Good bands have those too" comment....but whatever I'll get over it...
Anyways I'm gonna leave now by saying congrats to all that made state, and Sherman I have nothing but respect for you so don't take my comment as me "freaking out."
haha wow...overeaction I wasn't like ticked or anything. I'm just saying a show that makes 1st usually doesn't suck, I get what you're saying but I think you were basically reserved a spot from the beginning....
ohh no I didn't know good bands underperformed too...I thought it was just the bad ones like the one I'm obviously in...
I hate when people in great bands talk about their show sucking...
Anyways congrats to Centennial...a young band making state is always a cool deal. I'm hoping that Heath will be the Centennial of 2009.... The funny thing is when we didn't make state a lot of the younger kids were more upset than the older ones...which seems backwards because the younger ones get another chance in a couple years...but whatever
Yeah our band was a little upset today...I don't like the way the number of bands going to state is decided...They need to rethink their logic and create a better way.
I didn't know that rule about each region being required to send two bands. Are you sure it's true? Becuase if it is, our director doesn't even know about it because he was telling our band today that we need to hope at least two Region 21 bands get ones so three bands advance to state. So if you're positive that it's true...then I should probably let him know....
P.S. I'm pretty sure there are six bands in Region 21, but yeah I don't see that many advancing.
So the bands I know of from Area C going to area are Highland Park, Midlothian (spelling?), Pearce, Forney, Poteet, Waxahachie and us (Rockwall-Heath). I know there's more, I just don't know who yet.
As much as I hate to admit it, I would agree with you on the rankings. The one surprise up there is Highland Park. Nothing against them, I just didn't really expect them to be up that high in our area.
It's kinda killing me right now that our band came in expecting to do well at these past two contests but then only two bands from our area don't beat us (Greenville and West Mesquite)...if this keeps up my senior high school marching season is gonna be my worst one yet...
So we got straight II's last night...needless to say I was a little surprised. I mean I didn't think we did anything amazing, I just thought we did better than last year and last year we got straight ones. But I guess this is a different year with different judges...
All the judges said basically the same things, something like "You have a high demand show/drill" with the second half of the sentence left off which is "but the band isn't performing it good enough yet."
Anyways, I'm hoping we use this a motivational factor to prove that we are anything but a second division band...but I guess we'll see.
So if anyone has the results I would love it if they posted them...not the captions but the actual rankings and all that. Thanks
So I saw Poteet's show last night (granted it was from the sideline) but I can honestly say that I feel the same about their show this year as I did about their show last year. I have loved the opener both years and then not really liked the ballad or closer regardless of how well they are executed. But yeah, it was a pretty cool show.
So I get to see Poteet's show this friday as we are playing them...has anyone already seen it and/or know what it is. One of my friends that use to go to Poteet said it's something about New York or Manhattan right?
Also anyone seen and/or know what Pearce's or Sherman's shows are this year. I have tried to find video of any performances this year but have been unable to locate any.
Thanks
We know all of our sets and are marching them all this Friday for the first time. We have added a couple visuals, but mainly right now we're cleaning drill.
Mainly I'm gonna be focusing on the 4A bands to get a feel of what bands have a chance at state.
4A bands:
1. Red Oak
2. Greenville
3. West Mesquite
4. Terrell
5. Sherman
6. Forney
7. Highland Park
8. Rockwall Heath
9. North Lamar
10. J.J. Pearce
and of course
11. Poteet
Should be interesting to see if anyone's predictions change after this contest.
