i remember one particular 8 hour saturday rehearsal on the green i burned up so bad - sunburn for a while last four hours i just ended up marching with no neckstrap - i tan easily during summer - and whiten up during winter so u can imagine me walking around really dark in the fall with one line across teh back of my neck

we do concessions for every home game and sell items with the band/school logo at football games lots of fundraisers during the year (like those sell a candle or wrapping paper things) like 6 of them i think yearly bingo night yearly casino night trailer sponsorships (companies pay for their name on trailer) smaller companies put in smaller amounts like 100 bucks for their name in concert programs for the year parents sponsor with like 10 dollor donations in return for like a sticker we host a couple DC festival competitions and other things like that The Excitement of Sound is run by our band boosters so thats a hefty portion of our funding trip accounts are like 400 during spring and 400-800 during fall - so its not like we dont pay for stuff ourselfs the rest i guess the school district picks up um - i guess thats all for now..if i think of more ill post again

nice man started out slow but picked up really nicely and ya i did recognize that little melody part from your first txb comp. entree i still like it oh ya..lol and that bass clarinet spooked me the first time

ya its crazy fun i really loved it the past 2 years hang out with friends, make new ones, and play some music

im guessing u didnt read my post at all..besides the first line... this isnt about texas bands...but just bands in general ..im excited to at the # of tx bands going this year..i just dislike the fact that such a wider # of bands go way to often and you speak of a gain , visual, but u never talk about a loss.. the marching band spectrum has changed tremendously just over the last couple of years.. i say that just about every band has imporved visualy, but every band has also declined in music.. go back and listen to a show from the 90's and then listen to one from now days..(dont watch the show)...then go watch a show from the 90's and watch a show from now days(not listeneing to the music) you will be suprised to see that musicality was at a higher level back then, but visual was at a much lower level , when compared to the shows of today. just my 2 cents

so i guess this cometition is dead...

it seems that gran nats has turned into just another regional... what happened to back in the day were bands made a trip to the competition once every other year or every 3 , 4 years... and it was a more prestigous thing call me pesimistic, but iono..it just seems like the whole gran nats idea has changed (this has no way to relate to the # of texas bands going..just the fact of to many going to it like its just another local regional)
