  1. Advancing from Regions 17 and 19... Clear Lake Clear Brook Clear Creek Brazoswood Alvin Northshore Channelview Pasadena Rayburn Dickinson Pasadena Memorial Pearland Aldine McArthur Deer Park I think the November 8th UIL is for 4A.
  2. Is that where they went?? I was wondering where they had gone...anyway, that's all surprising to me because I'd heard nothing but good about the Poteet parents. Crazy how something like that could happen.
  3. I saw Vidor at Area! They were probably the best HS military band I've ever seen. Props to them.
  4. Oh wow....come to think of it, I DID see part of Fossil Ridge's show, because we used the practice field, Alamo Stadium, right before you guys that morning, and some of us stuck around to watch a little of your rehearsal. What I saw was very impressive and even though I'm no expert, it looked like finals material to me. Congratulations on 12th though, that's definitely something to be proud of.
  5. Ah, I wouldn't call the finalist bands forgettable by any means. Each band brought a lot of really exciting, really strong music to the table, and the drills were for the most part interesting. They just didn't have a lot of the innovation like you'd expect to see at BOA, but that's not what UIL is about. Like you said, each band performed at a very high level, and that's what the judges were there to judge. I do wish I could have seen the Raven though...I heard it was a pretty cool show.
  6. That was crazy! There was seriously like a huge swarm of people around the merchandise and Jolesch picture booths every time I passed by, and it usually took at least one block of bands to get through the line. I know people who didn't even see most the bands who went after us in prelims because of the lines.
  7. Tuesday was amazing. Dickinson reached a level it hasn't seen in years, and the whole journey to get there was so fun. This whole season has been a great, great experience and it has changed our band for the better. I'll never forget the feeling of hearing our show ringing through the Alamodome. The only other shows I saw were Poteet, Connally, Hendrickson, Vista Ridge and a little bit of Centennial (saw a side view from the famous tunnel). I absolutely enjoyed every one of those bands, and thought they had great shows. Great work, guys. It was an awesome competition.
  8. They aren't coming, which seems to be the case with a lot of military bands in the state. I'm disappointed we won't get to see them though. It would have been interesting to see them march after they made Honor Band finals.
