The V was capitalized in ConVergence because the full title of that show is ConVergence: 5 Works by Samuel Barber. Get it? -

After watching a video of Phantom (yes, I know it's a video, and yes, I know it's early), the show just leaves me wanting a lot more. I realize a large amount will ultimately be rewritten, but right now, it's not what I was expecting at all.

2009 BOA Regional Schedule
dmbalash replied to Danpod's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Here's a list of bands that can "hang" with Marcus/Bell/The Woodlands: Illinois Marian Catholic-7 time Grand National Champions, 14 time Class AA Champions, have never missed finals (since 1983). Indiana Avon-2008 Grand National champion, ISSMA Class A Champion 2002-2007 Lawrence Central-2001 and 2004 Grand National Champions, ISSMA Class A Champions 2008 Carmel-2005 Grand National Champion Oklahoma Broken Arrow-2006 Grand National Champions Also, I don't count Bowie as a "for sure" Finals lock. They play very, very well, but their visual performance leaves something to be desired. They were 3rd in San Antonio finals in music ensemble, however, their visual performance was 9th. If BOA would update the regional lists, I could make predictions a bit better, but based on the current lists, I count perhaps at least 9 bands that could potentially finish higher at Grand Nationals. That 10-18 range of bands is going to be quite interesting. -
Next Year Grand Nationals

Won't happen. BOA received a sweetheart deal from Indianapolis to move their offices there, and they get a good discount on the use of LOS. -

Westfield
dmbalash replied to euphownz's topic in Everything Music: Marching, Concert, Auditions and more
Oh, they still care. Their director, Philip Geiger retired in the past few years, and they have a different director now. They are still one of the premier bands in the nation, having placed in finals in I believe every BOA event attended until this year. They have made Grand National finals 4 times, never placing lower than 2nd, and they were the 2003 Grand National Champions. I'm not from Texas, and I can tell you that Westfield is very well respected around these parts, being mentioned in the same breath as the Plymouth-Cantons, the Broken Arrows, the Carmels of the world. Give them time, and I think they'll be right on the upper echelon again. -

I use DVD Videosoft (located here.) It's 20 programs (some of which I haven't used), and best part, it's free. Using that and Audacity together helps a ton. I've been able to rip a ton of mp3s. If anyone needs a tutorial on Audacity, I'm sure Brandon or I would be willing to help. -
You would, Montoya.

I'll be sitting on my butt, or going to a 90th birthday party for (I think) my great aunt. Joy. Will BOA raise $170,000 in the next 3 weeks to stay afloat?
