Don't forget that this doesn't take effect until 2009. It can be interesting to these shows, but I really hope that corps don't overuse electronics. Well anyways, http://www.dci.org/news/view.cfm?news_id=d...d3-edcf15de0d79

Sound Check Sound Check at Lucas Oil Stadium Join us for a special, once-in a lifetime opportunity to be one of the first bands to perform in the first marching band event at Lucas Oil Stadium, the new home of Bands of America Grand Nationals. This event literally will be a "sound check" for Bands of America and its participants, performing in the first stadium specifically designed with marching band performances in mind. Home to the BOA Grand Nationals, the BOA Indianapolis Regional, the ISSMA State Championships and Drum Corps International Championships, Lucas Oil Stadium will be the national crossroads and focal point of America's marching musical activities. Sound Check at Lucas Oil Stadium will allow bands to hear and experiment first hand with the new flow, logistics and acoustics of Lucas Oil Stadium. Like the stadium itself, Sound Check at Lucas Oil Stadium is a new event, giving bands a 15-minute time slot for a sound check, a performance with professional input or BOA competitive experience. Participants can choose to do a literal sound check, to do a run through performance with input from four BOA evaluators or compete in the evening in an event with a full BOA judging panel. Participating bands can also sign-up for a BOA Fall Preview Experience type In-Depth Clinic and Input on Sunday, September 28. BOA will also schedule opportunities for directors new to BOA to meet and interact with directors that regularly participate in BOA events. Jolesch Photography will be onsite to make special commemorative group and candid photos of your experience. Other special programming will be offered to allow participants to become more familiar with BOA and its offerings. Register today on the Sound Check at Lucas Oil Stadium Application or online at musicforall.org. Sound Check at Lucas Oil Stadium will be a working celebration, open to all bands, regardless of whether you regularly participate in BOA events. Come celebrate the completion of the new Lucas Oil Stadium with us, and get a "heads up" on the new venue in this specical opportunity. Looking at the "Sound Check" application, there's 3 performance options: 1. Sound Check–Run Throughs and Audio Check 2. Performance with Input (Four BOA Evaluators - Ensemble and Effect) 3. Evening Competition (Seven Judge BOA Panel) -
They're not. It just concidentally happens to be named the same.

It's just a proposal for a rule. It hasn't been passed yet. It still has to pass the caption heads' caucus meeting as well as the Director's caucus before it can even be voted on. Some amplification would be acceptable, but that's what staging is for. If you have a soloist, put him front field and just have him go at it.

The water rule was enacted after the 2004 season. Magic of Orlando had a "Pirates of the Caribbean" show that season, and part of the visual was to take gallon sized buckets of water (pretend rum) and just slosh it all over the place: the judges, the field, each other. After that season, Jeff Fiedler of the Cavaliers proposed a rule that would protect against just that. And now George Hopkins of the Cadets wants to repeal said rule.

My head hurts just thinking about this thread. So they got 3rd. Big freaking deal. Just because they were out of the top 2 for the first time doesn't mean that they're going to just up and disappear. Look at their late 70's/early 80's results. Bottom half from 1972 to 1985. They weren't the greatest back then, but boy, did they put out some entertaining shows. Also, they've been around for 50 years. They're not going anywhere.
