  1. QUOTE (andissimo @ Nov 5 2008, 07:36 AM) I will admit your show held my attention, which is more than I can say for a LOT of the bands that performed in the finals. But marching band isn't really just about marching and playing all the time. Sometimes it's nice to tell a story. Please don't take this the wrong way b/c I believe if you can do it and do it well then you deserve what is awarded to you, but Marching Band is MARCHING Band. Not Stand and tell a story Band, or story time w/ a music background and some nice forms. It is ALL about marching around the field and play music. I realize that marching band has evolved, and I thank God it has b/c I've done military style and it sucks. Maybe I'm just used to Marching Band being about marching shows that cater to hard forms and playing actuall music instead of having a show that tells a story w/ some marching and some music on the side. I'm not pointing any fingers except the one at the statement above about how cp should tell stories. Again Congradulations to all the bands at State.
  2. Why is a person in front ensemble comenting on MARCHING?! Oh well, nevermind Congradulations Cedar Park, I know you were gunnin for higher but who wasn't? Good Job to all the other bands that made it to finals. Yall are arguably some of the best bands in the nation!
  3. Congradulations to everyband that was there. I'm especially proud of Cedar Park, way to set a new school record! Good job! Good luck on Tuesday. (Tech beat UT 9-0!)
  4. It's perfectly alright. First I was just trying to be a little funny. That is the reason I used the word "LIKE" as in I would LIKE to say you were the best BUT... which indicates there is a reason I wasn't saying were the best. Since I graduated from cedar park I want to say they were the best. It's the whole pride in your school thing. That's why I said I only saw the first three bands to clarify that I was just showing my pride in how well my old band did (my brother is still there). And to speak to what kind of fan I am (that's not alright since I was at prelims), I live in Lubbock and I wanted to talk to some friends I left in when I moved up here that I never get to see sinince I live 6 hours away. I saw the other bands and yall did great. I thought I said that, oh well. I'll say it again, Yall (everyone) did a great job.
  5. As a CP alum, I would just like to say yall were the best. Now if I step away from that (in finals I only saw the 1st three) I can say thay yall sounded amazing and you had me w/ the first impact statement. You blew me away w/ your volume and quality of sound. Good Job! I wish I could be at the state performance because you will be even better, but alas the price of going to Texas Tech (8-0!) is at least a six hour drive from anywhere. Conally, I thought yall did sound pretty good. I know this doesn't help you feel better, but I commend you on a job well done. While I was returning to my car I was walking across the section where bands were sitting and I heard Vista Ridge's choral. OH MY GOODNESS. It was amazing, and I'm not easily impressed as I always look for some kind of flaw. I was relly supprised by how perfect it sounded. Great job! To everyone who is advancing to state (espcially Cedar Park, nice draw time by the way) good luck. I look forward to hearing about how Area D dominated at State. Good Job to everybody that competed.
  6. Good luck Cedar Park, I know you guys are going to own, and good luck to the rest of the bands going.
  7. Chris Anderson, gee that name sounds really familiar. It's not like he's the Goin' Band director or anything...
  8. I will actually get to see this contest since I don't have a football game to play at (6-0 baby!!) and I'm driving in that friday. I'm am really excited to see Cedar Park's show (finally) since they are going to play the sock off it.
  9. I know the story Travis it is okay... Congradulations to every band that was there, unfortunately I couldn't be there to watch living 6 hours away and having to attend a football game (6-0 baby!). Nice job Cedar Park! That is how it's done.
  10. Good luck to all of you (especially Cedar Park)!
  11. I was driving by the band field (I graduated and my dad is the head director) and I saw, of course, that the tubas were marching quite a bit slower than the rest of the band;) Any one care to exand on this...?
  12. Probably Texas Tech, in Nowheresville, Flatland
  13. Trumpets 96 (-) Horns 93 (+)
