  1. Possible bands at Area D - There are a total of 28 bands. Bold shows those that made a 1st division last year. (*was a 112 rating in 5A) Region 8 (7) (7) Midway, Bryan, Temple, Copperas Cove, Shoemaker*, Harker Heights, Killeen* Region 12 (8) (8) Reagan, CTJohnson, Madison, LEE, Roosevelt, Churchill, San Marcos, Canyon Region 18 (6) (4) Del Valle, James Bowie, Akins, Austin, Dripping Springs, M&G Johnson Region 26 (7) (6) Round Rock, Cedar Ridge, Westwood, Stony Point, McNeil, Hutto, Manor If it were based off of last year's results, 25 bands would be at Area with 5 advancing to State. There is a possibility of only 4 bands advancing to State! Let's hope that everyone has fantastic Region Marching runs!
  2. Area D 6A is going to be a bloodbath this year!
  3. The announcement of finalists is random. However, the finals performance times are not. They are bottom 6 first followed by top 6. Within the bottom and top, those are by random draw.
  4. Possible Bands at Area H 5A - Bands in BOLD received a 1st division last year (2023) Region 11 (9) (8) Wagner, Judson Veteran's Memorial, Eagle Pass CC Winn, Southwest, Legacy, Harlandale, McCollum, Southside, South San Region 14 North (9) (7) CC Carroll, CC King, CC Miller, CC Moody, CC Ray, CC Veteran's Memorial, Alice, Gregory Portland, Flour Bluff Region 29 (11) (9) John Jay, Samuel Champion, Boerne, Highlands, Brackenridge, Jefferson, Lanier, Edison, Burbank, Fox Tech, Kerrville Tivy Region 32 (5) (5) Leander, Glenn, Rouse, Cedar Park, Liberty Hill A total of 29 groups received a 1st division last year so if it were the same this year, 5 groups would advance. The possibility of 6 groups advancing isn't unheard of. Let's hope for some great performances at Region Marching Contest from all the groups in Area H.
  5. Predictions: 1. Westlake 2. McNeil 3. Churchill 4. Hutto 5. Taft 6. William B. Travis 7. Lake Belton 8. John Paul Stevens 9. Glenn 10. Pflugerville
  6. That's the absolute truth! It's breathtaking musically and visually.
  7. Just wanted to start a thread about this contest. Should be a great contest to witness.
  8. Update: After this weekend, Lockhart needs to be thrown into the mix (top 7). Great showing by them at BOA San Marcos.
  9. It was a great contest with some pretty stout performances. Congratulations to all that performed!
  10. Why shouldn’t they be allowed to attend any contest they want? Maybe there are respected judges that give quality feedback and that’s all they are looking for. Sounds like you’re a bit bitter.

  12. No, same as the Austin Regional being in Buda lol. The Hill Country Regional is in San Antonio lol.
  13. 😃 In a non- aisd stadium
  14. The weather looks to be fantastic this weekend. Looking forward to seeing and hearing some amazing performances from all the groups in attendance.
  15. I can see Sotomayor in the Finals this year. They had a great showing at BOA McAllen, placing above Del Rio. I can see them in the 6th-8th spot depending on the run.
  16. Churchill has been an Area D Finalist consistently since 2016. Don't really see them out of the mix again this year.
  17. Top 10 and bubble groups 1. Hendrickson 2-3 Pieper, Hays 4-6 Lake Belton, McCallum, Pflugerville 7-8 Smitson Valley, New Braunfels 9-12 Seguin, Georgetown, Anderson, Weiss
  18. They certainly have improved this year. Not sure if it's enough to make finals but I'd think they would be close.
  19. None of this is correct. All prelims and finals at Area are random draws, not result based.
  20. Most Non-UIL compeitions follow the top 1/2, bottom 1/2 format. Just not UIL yet
  21. As a band director, I can tell you that Area Finals is purely a random draw, not top 1/2, bottom 1/2. There is a discussion proposal presented to the UIL Marching Band Rules Advisory Committee for this to be considered in the future. Read about it here: https://www.uiltexas.org/files/music/UIL_MB_RAC_Spring_2023_Minutes.pdf
